Yes, I went down from a 17x8 (wrapped in 245/40) wheel (44# per corner) down to a 15x7 (31# per corner). The new rims weigh about 13.5# each.

I dropped approximately 55# of rotating mass by installing these new lightweight wheels. While I had the car off the ground, I coated the wheels, calipers, and inner fender liners with Carpro DLUX. Next up is adding a layer of rubber to the front fender liners at the dragstraip. :awesome:

Not re-apply the coating, but do a thorough clean with something like Carpro reset and apply a topper like Carpro Reload. Since you've not used a coating before, I'd just give it a try. You don't know what you're missing until you try it.

IMHO, it's just a silly marketing ploy. I haven't noticed coatings being any less resistant to swirling or light scratches than the original clearcoat that comes with a car from the factory.

Honestly, I picked up a Kobalt cordless leaf blower at Lowe's just over a year ago for $89 and love the thing. It's quiet, light and does the job just fine. I really don't see what I'm getting for an additional $200 + shipping.
