removing the wheel shouldnt affect any sensors i dont think....pressure washer and degreaser works best for me! i shot some dp engine degreaser in my wells once, WOW! it may not be safe to do this regularly, since my wells are painted, but they were the whitest wells i ever saw!

if you want to remove the lettering and raised numbers and stuff, get a dremel tool to grind that stuff off. then your going to need to use a pretty rough grit of paper to get the texture down a bit, then just keep using finer and finer grits of paper, eventually wetsanding. lots of wetsanding...
