You do risk the possibility of it scratching the metal. In my opinion it is always worth it to take out whatever risk for a little more work.

I am currently testing how long wax actually stays on the 22ple. I have wax on half of my hood and half of my doors. There is no huge visible difference but maybe on a darker colored car it would make a difference. Wax normally last 6-8 weeks on my car since its parked outside. Only time will tell.

I tend to try and stay away from steel wool. I would try a metal polish and a good amount of elbow grease.

just make sure they are ultra plush. Invest in good microfibers because they will save you a lot of time and pain in the long run.

Wheel cleaner- I would use ironx or sonax

seal then let cure than paste... simple. The more layers the better off you are. If I did not have 22ple on my car I would use opti-seal. I have heard that Wolf's Hardbody is supposed to be great stuff, but I have not used the stuff.

JUST USE FG400.... extremely long working time, not dusting and finishes down amazingly well.

Holograms... I dont think you are getting any with the flex. I have never seen or heard of that happening. On the other hand owning a lexus I can agree that it is soft and you really have to finish down properly or you will have a little marring.

Well I would go with 22ple as my base coat and the the swissvax on top of that.
