Blackfire SiO2 Paint Sealant vs McKee's 10 minute paint sealant

I'm intrigued by the BF SiO2 spray. I wonder what the SiO2 content of the spray is and how it compares to something like TAC Quartz Max. What I like about the latter is its hydrophobicity, but I do feel like it streaks and takes a good amount of buffing to even out.

HD Speed - Quick One Step on Ford F150

Nice work! I don't reach for Speed that often, but when I've used it, I've always been pleased with the results (for a AIO).

Q 2 trim prey clean on a new car

I think you can. IPA solutions are fairly easy to mix and effective. However, you have to be careful about the wiping such that you don't scuff the paint (not an issue with trim). Some will argue synergy: stay within a brand. I don't find any merit in that unless someone can explain to me...

    Carpro essence plus pad selection

I was initially impressed and happy with Essence Plus. I was using the carpro gloss pads as well for doing the bulk of the work. However, after a few days - certainly within a week - I noticed the light swirls to have returned. I tried it on a few other occasions, and I got the same results...

    SIO2 Spray Coating Help

Gulp. Haven't tried it yet! But it looks like it's as easy to apply as Cancoat. Durability and hydrophobicity are the benchmarks. Anyone want to test it out with me? (Sent via my mobile device...)

    SIO2 Spray Coating Help

If you're looking for more durability and a little bit more detailing effort, Can Coat is a great "gateway drug" into the coating world. AFAIK, it isn't designed for multiple surfaces (at least not on label), but it is very easy to apply with a microfiber and very easy to buff away. It requires...

    Bad Baggies Testing After Wash

Would like to know your procedure as well. Did you chemically decontaminate? Fine clay? Medium clay? I would use a waterless wash to get the pollen off a section of your car, for example, then quickly do the baggie test. If smooth, then it's the pollen. If it's like sandpaper within seconds of...

    SIO2 Spray Coating Help

If you want a no brainer SiO2 coating that can be used on multiple surfaces that is easy to apply, takes no skill, will give your vehicle a great look, then look no further than Gyeon Wet Coat, CarPro HydrO2 or McKees Hydro Blue. It doesn't get any easier than that. Durability is poor - 1m for...

Do water based polishes need IPA wipe down?

I think it depends, probably, on what your LSP is. Unless a polish specifically states no prep is necessary, all polishes should be cleared from the surface...water based, water soluble or oil based. Just because something is water based or water soluble doesn't mean that a basic wipe off will...

    Frozen water during car wash...

I will second the recommendation to use a ceramic coating. Beads of water freeze all the time, but I have not seen those to cause etchings if removed once they melt. On the other hand, I wouldn't wipe away frozen beads either. You can't predict how they will release from the surface -- they...
