First attempt at a Biz card

I think it looks pretty sweet. I would suggest smaller font for your name. Other than that, it's just a biz card and the only thing that really matters is that people recognize it's your business and can easily read the phone #, at least long enough to save it to their cell contacts or toss it...

Those Cadillac lights are tough... definitely not your average bear. GM must put titanium in some of their clear. :bat:

More thoughts on the coatings... The 50/50 urethane coating is definitely a faster easier "headlights for dummies" method than the opti-coat.... because it hides a lot. It looks pretty good even over 1000-1500 and it's nice and glossy no matter what you did to the light. Downside is that it's...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

Depends on the specific vehicle and condition of the lens... sometimes the repaired top half blends great with the unstripped lower half. Other times not so much. If the factory clear has some pitting, checking, cracking... then it can definitely stand out as different than what was sanded out...

How much are you guys charging for Cquartz/Opti-coat or any other super sealants?

As someone who is not in the detailing business, this thread was an entertaining read a couple days ago... first few pages. So take this as a newb or 3rd party response. I do make a living working on cars, just not detailing... I do some retail but mostly at wholesale accounts. I can understand...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

I just got mine this week:hungry:... it does not fill in/hide scratches like the urethane. I did have one small test sample that showed some promise, but most of what I have done so far with it shows very little "coverage" of imperfections... definitely not enough to hide 1500. Maybe 3000, but...

I never liked dry sanding with a rotary either. I always wet sand if using a drill or by hand. For hand sanding, I really like the Meg Unigrit paper. I get the 5"x9" packs at a local auto parts store. I use a basic 5" variable speed palm sander... bosch, dewalt, pc, etc. It can be tricky to...

I think you are killing yourself by removing ALL of the factory clear, especially since you are doing a spar coating. If the bottom 2/3 of the lens still has good rock hard clear coat, just hit it with whatever final abrasive step you use on the damaged area. Then finish with whole thing...

I agree that 600-800 is good to start with. I prefer to start at 1000 if possible. There have been a couple times I wish I had 400, just to speed it up... but that's very rare which is why I don't bother to keep anything less than 600.

I've seen complete garbage generic sandpaper before, but not with this type of stuff... 1000-3000 grit discs tend to be good quality, not from dollar store type companies. Those 22/100 discs would have to be really stiff to be a problem for a 3" size DA. I guess I've not seen high grit discs...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

Just recently stumbled across the forum here and it's been a good read and I'm shocked to see how many have jumped into the headlight thing. Last time I did much online browsing a some time ago, there was only a handful of "HL" products available and it was still more of a novelty to most. I've...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

Simple. Don't take off all the "good" clearcoat. Take out the damage at the top of the lens, slightly overlapping from on grit to the next just to be sure not to leave any heavy scratches behind. When you get to the last step, such as 3000 grit... then hit the whole lens. Quick compound if you...

    Headlight Restoration: 2004 Cadillac CTS

Nice job overall, and good experience in the bank. Btw, don't worry about doing too much sanding.... you won't/can't sand through or crack a lens in my experience :xyxthumbs: Some are definitely more a pain than others... for various reasons. Sometimes it's tough to know how much is enough for...

The 50-50 mix stays wet plenty long enough to work and blend with a small "applicator" so you don't have to do a one swipe application. I use a 1-2" size and work the edges, then work back and forth... sometimes from top down, sometimes bottom up. lol

    Headlight Restoration: 2004 Cadillac CTS

These lights do often have deep damage, and sometimes there is crazing or checking which doesn't come out with a simple sand and polish. Tough to tell from pics for sure, but it does look like there is some correctable damage left. Just need to dig a bit deeper. Been there done that many times...

New Formula Optimum Polishes in Stock!!

When did the new formula start shipping from AG? My order just shipped yesterday, so obviously I hope I didn't just buy the old "bad" stuff. The "new and improved" announcement was posted like 5 min after I finished checking out LOL BTW, my order was almost all Optimum goodies. Can't wait to...
