Bought my first DA Orbital 2 weeks ago...here's my first go around

Well, I had a pretty busy Saturday. I set-up shop in the garage and got started. HUGE thanks to Andy (AudiOn19s) for coming over and showing me the ropes and just making sure I didn't eff up too bad :D I didn't really get many pictures during the whole process. It took me about 6 hours to...

Spread peanut butter on it, let it soak, and then clean off. Messy trick, but it works.

Just applied some last night. Applied with DA very thin as stated, let it dry for about a minute and then wipe off in direction wind blows.

3" or 4" Backing Plate-What is More Practical?

Yup, this will just be for tight spaces. I have 5.5 inch pads for larger panels. Was doing my wife's MDX last night and there are a lot of contours on the lift gate and front bumper area where I could have really used 3" pads.

3" or 4" Backing Plate-What is More Practical?

Awesome, thanks! Could have used the 3" tonight while doing my wife's MDX.....I'll order them for when I do my cars :xyxthumbs: So, have you actually used 3" pads with this set-up or just the 4"? Do you feel like you have good control, and it doesn't feel unsafe like you're going to hit the...

3" or 4" Backing Plate-What is More Practical?

So do you ever use a 3" pad with that set-up? So can I get the Lake Country 3" backing plate with the Lake Country 3" hydro pads? Or is that too dangerous to not have the extra 1/2" like with other set-ups?

3" or 4" Backing Plate-What is More Practical?

So, just to be clear, if i am getting 3" pads, do I need a 3" backing plate? I just want this for using in small areas (A pillar, roof, bumpers, wings, etc) As for now, the budget will allow for new pads, not new buffer. I JUST bought the XP last week :xyxthumbs: That would awesome, thanks!

    porter cable handle question

Seems like Lowes is the only place to get these. My Home Depot did not carry these. They only went as small as 3/4 in length. Save yourself a trip and go to Lowes. That is all, works great, thanks!

That F10 is gorgeous! I love the blue flecks in the paint, I have the same in my Cosmos-black M3. I hope you got to drive it too :D Since he debadged and there was scratching left over, did you have to really push on the q-tip to get any headway on removing the scratches. Seems like those...

my newbie steps to detailing the outside of my car

I'm new myself, and can offer a few recommendations based on a few of my friends who are professional detailers. Porter Cable 7424XP - This is a great beginners tool because it does a great job, and it's virtually impossible to burn the pain with this because if you apply too much pressure it...
