    Blackfire Ice Over Fire Questions

Apply the sealant, let it haze for an hour, then buff it off. Then let it bond for 12 hours per the instructions iirc. Don't let it get wet during that 12 hour period. The instructions say 12 hours I believe, but overnight has always been fine for me.

Chemical guys signature series orange degreaser problem

The CG pint clear plastic bottles are not very heavy duty. I had MF cleaner in one for about a year and the slight squeezing of the bottle to get the cleaner in the wash machine caused the bottle to leak from the middle. It's not like I was crushing the thing with my hand or anything. I also...

What are you watching? TV or what? (Orphan Black - Clone Club Junkie!!!!!!!)

Was bumping around on Amazon instant video last night after the race. They made a great series called Bosch, which is based on the Michael Connelly novels of the same character. Great show. Good stuff on Amazon prime video and its free if you have amazon prime. Also can't wait for the finale...

Rant: Body shop kindly washed my car...

I would tell them you are not happy about the situation, and see what they might be willing to do for you. I doubt that they will see the light, so to speak, and alter their washing process, but no one likes unhappy customers. There isn't any way to prove to them that it was swirl free when it...

Chemical LSP removal other than Griot's Paint Prep?

Would something like the Blackfire coating prep really remove an LSP, or is it more designed to remove polishing oils after polish? Same with eraser, I think that is designed to remove polishing oils too, not strip an LSP. I think Bob's examples are more in line with stripping an LSP.

Removing dust after the car was driven from washing to polishing

Go rinseless. One bucket method; doesn't need any setup other than a bucket and towels. Buy distilled water, its less than a buck per gallon and you can take it and mix it at your polishing location. Meg's D114 is excellent rinseless that leaves nothing behind.

Which brand is forbidden to be spoken around you?

Speaking of bad sales approaches, Not sure of the brand , but had never heard of it. At the gas station by my house on Saturday mornings some company is always promoting a waterless wash and wax product that comes in an aerosol can, and the have several sorta hot girls who just go up to cars and...

What are you watching? TV or what? (Orphan Black - Clone Club Junkie!!!!!!!)

If you have Cinemax, Banshee is awesome. Also is the Strikeback series on Cinemax. I keep my subscription to that channel just for those two. I was considering dumping a couple of premium channels on my account since my damn Cox cable bill is $280 per month but I can't part with Showtime...

    Mobile Rinseless Wash

Dirt and leaves might be too dirty for a rinseless, but I take from this post that bucket washing with a hose is not a preferred option for you. I use rinseless method a lot (GDWM) with a variety of rinseless products, and D114 is my current favorite. Its a great value if you are going to use...

    Soft Wheel Detail Brush

I just checked out the universal brush. Definitely looks like a high quality product on their site, but they wanted $17 to ship it to me (west coast), plus the cost of the brush its over $55 all in. Seriously, $17 shipping? Will pass on that one.

    Soft Wheel Detail Brush

That's a good tip, thanks. Was looking for something like that, especially with a triangular tip. I have intricate wheel that I have a love/hate relationship with.

Going to pull the trigger on my first DA

I read that too, that Optimum is SMAT. I just picked up a bottle yesterday to clean up the finish on my bumpers before using Optimum Gloss Coat. I'll post back if get to the polishing stage of my to-do list for today. Below is a good link...

Going to pull the trigger on my first DA

Yes, Rupes is a DA. I should have been more precise. the rupes units have a larger "throw" that the traditional 8mm throw DA's like PCXP, GG, Megs v2, (Harbor Freight, not sure) and pretty much all of them I think before Rupes came out. I was putting the Rupes in a different category than...

Going to pull the trigger on my first DA

On the polish and pad part of your post, the recommendations in this thread are very good. Even though the car is new, I would still use IronX and a very fine clay like the pinnacle poly clay to remove any contaminants. Even without dealership "detailing" it is still very possible that the car...

Going to pull the trigger on my first DA

Have to echo the recommendations on a DA machine over the Rupes. Rupes is an excellent machine, but I would not advise getting one if its your only machine. The DA units are much more versatile. I have both Rupes and DA, and if I could only have one it would be a DA like the GG6 (which I...

    Old Flex vs. New Flex

That thing looks like it would be great for a wheels-off detail, meaning cutting through the axles to get the wheels off.
