While that may be possible to do, like dontsleeponit said there are a lot of variables. I doubt that any good competent detailer will remove a third of the available clear every time they polish the same car. A noob with a rotary possibly but its nothing definite.

From what I understand it is only the German luxury cars (Mercedes, BMW, Audi) that have the ceramic clear, Mercedes for sure since they were the first I believe. That doesn't mean that other cars don't have hard clears though. GM clear is generally pretty hard for example.

I found the blue shop towels to be too grabby when using them on glass. Its a bit annoying. I find the regular kitchen towels like brawny or whatever to work better. They're good general purpose cleaning towels otherwise though, always keep a roll in the garage.

I use a hand held incandescent light. It works pretty good. Can't say how it compares to the halogens since I've never used those. You can move it around very easily to look at the surface at different angles while you're hunting for swirls. The only problem is you need something to hang it...

I did that a few weeks ago. I drove around to a couple of different auto parts stores before I realized I didn't have any plates. Ended up taking all the small streets home to lessen the chances of running into a cop.

From personal experience mixing in some FPII with IP did decrease the dusting. Not completely but almost, a lot better than IP alone. I don't know how much that compromised the cutting ability though but I don't think it was much, plus it increased the work time since FPII can be worked longer...

I had one of those Pep Boys sheepskin mitts and didn't like it. Once it got wet it didn't seem as thick and I could see right through to the skin. Plus it didn't hold its shape very long, it now looks like a tube sock and I can bearly get my hand in it. It still seems soft when its dry...

I believe 50/50 is the correct ratio. You can spray it on the panel or towel either way is fine. Can't help you with the trim staining as I've never done that. Just as a side note I get mine at the 99 cent store. Two 12oz bottles for 99 cents and its 50% ISO by volume so its already mixed at...
