    Duragloss 105/601

That is correct. Either wiping a pass of 601 over the 105 or mixing the two in a 1:4 ratio provides instant curing, so you can top immediately. Bill

    Collinite 840 and 845

As a regular user of many Collinite products, 845 is an excellent choice. Just remember to apply it so thin you can barely see it. With regards to the 840, Collinite and Autogeek both state on their websites that it shouldn't be used on dark clearcoats, so I'd definitely abstain. If you're...

    Freshly repaired wheels

I'm in the car business and use a few vendors that do wheel repair. Unlike a body shop doing collision repairs, where the paint is often baked, the wheel guys just air dry. We've all heard about the 30-90 day window before waxing or coating. With air-dried paints, regardless of the paint type...

Detail Sprays --- How do you use?

This technique was posted by Michael Stoops of Meguiar's. It's the technique I use and teach for both quick detailers and Waterless washes: California Drought Update and Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere Bill

Anyone using Hose Slides when washing?

Nicely done! And they nest in a small space when stored. Bill

Anyone using Hose Slides when washing?

Many years ago, when we were painting a car, we'd grab 4 brake shoes from the core barrel and kick 'em under the tires. Does anyone even remember brake shoes? Bill

    Britemax Pure Max

I did a very favorable review of this back in Sept. '15, when Autopia started carrying it and still feel the same over a year later. I'm typically a rinseless washer, but Britemax quickly rose to be my top choice when I bring out the hose or PW. It's super-slippery, cleans well and more...

You guys throw your drying towels in with other MF's to wash?

I wash all my towels together, using vinegar in the softener dispenser of the HE washer. Really dirty ones are pre-soaked in Dawn and Oxyclean first. My drying towels (PFM, Guzzlers, Carrand and Meg's) perform as good as when they were new, but I don't use them if I'm using a drying aid, such as...

    Griots Garage PMF Drying Towel.

Personally, I prefer the 2-pack of the smaller PFM's. Two are enough to dry anything shy of a Suburban and they're easier to handle. Of course, if you would rather blot than wipe, the big one would likely serve you better. Bill

Pro Tip: Remember to take GREAT BEFORE SHOTS before working on the car!

Subscribed for updates. It was your article that brought me here when you left Meguiars for AG, when trying to bring my El Camino's paint back from near-death and as an "old guy", I truly enjoy the antique SS paint restos. I learn a little bit more from each new project. Bill

    Waterless Wash King

Subscribed for the same reason. Ultima has been my go-to for a few years, so I haven't tried any of the more recent additions to the WW market. Bill

All Mike Phillips #7 Show Car Glaze Articles in one place

Thanks for making it a "sticky", Mike. I've referred a bunch of folks from other forums, such as MOL, to your M07 articles and this makes them quicker to access. If you remember, I've been an avid fan since your first Auto Trader Classics article back in 2009, when it helped me earn the first...

Which Quick Detailer / Waterless Wash ?

Guz, Thanks for posting the image. It makes it much easier to explain to the uninitiated. I didn't care for Opti-Clean either for exteriors, but it's my favorite interior detailer. I'm still partial to Ultima Waterless Wash, but I haven't tried Uber, Pinnacle or McKees yet. There's only so much...

Buick Grand National One step polish.

Can't argue with your opinion, but as someone who drove GN's for a few years, the stock steel wheels stunk, IMO. I could never understand why Buick chose a steel wheel for their performance flagship. Maybe it was because NASCAR cars had steelies. They were heavier than the T-Type alloy wheels...

    Some Duragloss Questions...

Not an expert, but I've used a bunch of DG products (no 531-sorry!), unfortunately not over Essence, so I can't help you there. FWIW, DG105 has some cleaner content, but in my experience the cleaning qualities are very pad-dependent, so if you apply your 105/601 with a soft waxing pad, I'd doubt...
