    National detail pros

I've recently been contacted twice. The numbers will be 801 area code for Draper/Salt Lake City. First time it was a vague, "Can you detail in XXXXX, MO? Can you do a detail on Saturday?". Then another text asking about cost. If you reply that you can't, you get asked for your email and...

Facebook Car Wash & Detailing Category

The trick is having your address on your Facebook business page. I just had my city entered since I live in a small town. Once that's added/configured, the additional sub-category options open up. Until you add your address, you don't see the extra sub-category options.

Facebook Car Wash & Detailing Category

I've seen this category used, but can't figure out how to get it configured. It doesn't appear in the drop-downs. The closest I get is Local Business-Automotive. Anyone got the inside scoop on how to get that done? I'm wondering if it's a discontinued selection that was grandfathered.

Need help picking new van .

I looked into Sprinters when I was looking and there was plenty to say about them on forums, but I paid attention to what fleet managers said. It was basically that they had a hard time keeping a full fleet on the road and that they can be a hot potato with the dealerships. A local guy I know...

    clay bar and work questions

One would think so, but the nano pads seemed to like dihydrogen oxide just fine. I could see where my results with no marring for an entire van could seem like an anomaly or maybe just contrary to marketing, but they are just that, results.

    clay bar and work questions

Could also get the nanoskin pads for a DA. Did an entire cargo van today with the coarse pad on the 3401 and used only water. Glide from the nanoskin folks works pretty well and lasts at recommended dilution.

    Business vs Detailinng

"(Customer name), I can fix a good many things, but that scratch down into the paint coat or bare metal is not one of them. You'll need to have this repaired at a body shop. Keep in mind that when this defect on the (panel name) gets painted, some of the surrounding decals, trim, handles, and...

Got a new van. no really, I have it.

Here's my setup. Hope this helps. It's still getting distilled and shuffled, but it works pretty well. The cart is from Northern and holds compound/polish bin, small applicator bin, paint towels, and sprays down below. I still have some stuff to arrange in the weatherguard bins. I have...

Remove scratches '13 Odyssey matte exterior trim

Those might be plastic tape that can be replaced. Honda uses a lot of that on the upper door parts. Might look at a parts breakdown and see so you'll have a backup plan.

    Need help choosing pads

For me there was a fine line between "finishing" and "finessing", so my startup kit saved the finessing for another order and just included Yellow, Orange, and White with Reds for waxes and sealants. On a single stage car, you'll wish you had more of the Orange and White. Those Blue/Black...

starting a detailing business, need a little help with the name

Might consider the idea of maybe incorporating something from the area, or at least buying the detailing domain names for nearby places (YorktownDetailing.com, GloucesterPointDetailing.com, ....). I started with a colloquialism that I heard as a kid in Mississippi that describes shiny objects.

    05 Ford Edge & 1978 VW Bus

Thanks. That bus is a rare find. Someone must have hidden that one away in a hangar or something. The interior wasn't faded. I was a bit bummed that someone along the line had not thought to put spacers behind the spare tire, but that's pretty common, I think. My bay had been mashed in a...

    05 Ford Edge & 1978 VW Bus

This 05 Edge is a daily driver/commuter/weekend haul-the-family vehicle and it was a little dirty. The paint had swirls and just about what you'd expect out of this year vehicle. Hit the hood and some of the scratches with M105/LCYellow with the PC. Then followed it with M205 and finished...

    Towel storage for mobile detailers?

I like the Sterlite 28L clear containers with the tan lids from walmart. I use them for the older MF and terry towels. For my newer and super clean MF towels, believe it or not, I've found that the clear flexible plastic container that my wife's comforters are sold in work really well. I...

Would you buy this to detail in?

A 1/2 or 3/4 ton Chevy cargo will probably work out well. I started last year with a high-mile E250 with the 5.4L and it's a nice backup rig now. I have since moved on to an extended 2500 Express with the 4.8V8 and the ride quality is much better. I almost went for an Astro, but picked up the...
