This one had seen way too many automatic car washes. I had always heard solid black Porche paint was super soft. Definitely not the case with this one! It scratches pretty easy, but the paint is hard.

Used 3K and 4K paper
Rupes Mille, G21, Flex 3”, Rupes Ibrid.
Sonax Cutmax, EX04-06, CarPro Reflect.
McKee’s 914 for the Panel Wipe.
Unnamed coating.View attachment 68015View attachment 68016View attachment 68017View attachment 68018View attachment 68019View attachment 68020View attachment 68021View attachment 68022

Well that turned out nicely!! Looks great now...hopefully no more auto washes for it in the future!

Thank you! I don’t think it will see any more automatic washes. She honestly didn’t know.

Unfortunately her Cayman ended up at the Porche dealer body shop a couple days after being coated. It got the standard wipe down with a rag off the floor on the area they worked on then run through their wash. I have a feeling I’ll be doing that one again in a few months.

Great work and write up and pictures Dave!

Sad about the other car she has that they damage the work you did on it.

Thank you! That car is cursed. I let her cool off from everything that has happened so far before I pointed out to her that they had painted part of the outside of the door. I broke that news to her yesterday. Working on finding out the truth about what happened and they’re going to have to repaint the door.

It looks like the scratch was probably on the outside and they did a spot repair and tried to blend the paint. It isn’t even close! That Cayman has is a heavy metallic black and it looks like they sprayed the back 1/4 of the door with solid black.

If that were my car I would be down there ripping someone a new one. I think that’s why she asked me to take care of it for her. As much as she has tipped me I have no problem doing a couple little things for her.
