Client was interested in just protecting his still owned since new first vehicle. Wasn’t that concerned with the correction aspect. Plan was to be very conservative in the correction.
The paint was absolutely hammered. Appears to have never been touched in 50+ years! Oxidized, dull, lifeless, cracked, CRAZY swirls, scratches, and anything else you want to throw on top of it…it had it. Single stage paint. But…it has/had patina!
Got super glossy, a lot of the defects/swirls/cracks remained, however, it looks a ton better!

The ‘details’:

McKee’s37 914N waterless wash.
Meg’s #7 wipe/rub down. 3 applications.
Medium clay bar.
DoDo born slippery lube.
DeFelsko PTG.
Scangrip lighting.
Flex 3401, pixie, Rupes iBrid.
LC pads.
M105/M205.
Optimum panel wipe.
Adam’s advanced graphene coating.
GYEON tire.
Metro vacuum.
Pinnacle black label leather conditioner.
McKee’s37 interior detailer.
McKee’s37 interior surface protectant.
Auto finesse glass cleaner.
McKee’s37 APC.

Thank you for looking!

Oh man, that is a fantastic job! Great cleanup and transformation! The car, while still great shape for the age, was harsh in some of the paint. Very nice job!!

Scott....great work!

Love the black wire wheels (I'm sure YOU didn't though, LOL) Would've loved to have seen it with the bumpers removed

I think an honorable mention goes to those seats

You did some incredible enhancements to that. Wow, same owner all this time. It has aged along with them. I think the battle scars are cool.

Thanks all! Appreciate the comments!!

Bumpers off would have perhaps 'cleaned up the lines' a bit! Wheels were in decent shape believe it or not.

JD: indeed! Each one has to have a story!

Silly: It was rough!

Amazing results. Nice before/after pictures on the taillight covers. Seats look so much better. How long did it take you to do all that?

What was your process on the vinyl top?
Same question for the chrome bumpers.

Nice work, Sol!

When he sees it, I'll bet the owners shoes will fall off!!

You should hand him a pair of pliers, so he can tip you 1 of his gold teeth. Lol.

WOW! What a beautiful save! The fact that it's still running is another amazement! I owned a 1978 Triumph TR8. Biggest POS I have ever owned! I noticed the tail lights were Lucas Tail lights!

There was a saying about Lucas Electronics...The Prince of Darkness!

Beautiful work as always! But I must say this is one of my favorites that you have done.

KEEP ON ROCKING!

Thanks everyone!!!!

Thanks Kama, Marky and Paulie! Appreciate the comments!

Thank you! I enjoyed working on this...and I enjoy SS paint as well.

Those seats were so DRY. It was crazy, multiple applications of conditioner and they finally started to respond with getting a little darker...soaked it up!

Top was cleaned gently with McKee's interior detailer and then used their interior surface protectant to give it some UV protection as well as 'enhance' it's looks some.

Bumpers were waterless washed and then glazed to add some shine...that's it. They are original, had some rust, swirls and the like, and I just wanted to make them pop a little.

Thanks again!

So it’s 3 rubdowns with #7 by hand?
Then clay, then 105, followed by m205?

Oh how long did it take? Looks like alot of work went into it?

Yep. Soak it. Let it sit overnight. Rub it off. Soak again, let it sit overnight. Rub it off. Then one more soak for about 8-12 hours, then rub off.

Clayed, then 105/205

I had it for 4 days, worked on it solid for 2 of them I'd say...was def some work, a bit tedious at times due to the paint being thin/fragile in areas, as well as having to remove stuff-luggage rack, top/tonuea/etc.

Woulda been scared to touch it. Nice restoration on that time capsule.

Next time you're on an airliner, remember that they make the ignitors for turbine engines... ;)
