Hey folks. :xyxthumbs:

The same day Mike had the team working on the Ford Capri Perana in his Competition Ready Class, I set about correcting the body shop induced holograms on this 1970 Ford Capri, 8000+ miles away in a little detailing shop in New Zealand.

I hadn't seen the Capri before it had arrived, & as soon as it pulled up outside the shop door, with the sun beating down on it - HOLOGRAMS!!! :nomore: I'll skip my rant on holograms, body shops etc but I will add, this Capri was covered in overspray from sitting in the body shop, & I mean covered. It felt like 100 grit sand paper. After a lengthy decontamination process a test spot revealed Pinnacles Advanced Swirl Remover was the perfect choice for correcting the holograms & finished down beautifully as always. So, Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover on an Orange LC Hybrid via Flex 3401 done the deed there, & for something a little different I went with CarPro's Essence+ as an LSP on CarPro Gloss Pads, again, the Flex 3401. :dblthumb2:

Right, picture time! As it turned up -

Pretty ugly huh? Sorry, limited time on this one so I don't have any photos of the workings or 50/50 pictures.
Here is the Capri finished & sitting in the Summer sunshine, looking much better. :dblthumb2:

Thank you all for checking in & having a look.

Nice little car. Boy! the dirty tires in the before pictures kind of makes the car look like an old POS. Not true anymore. That's an appropriate color for a 1970's car.

How do you like using Essence Plus as an LSP? I have done a few Essence with Essence Plus on top details and the finish fantastic. The paint looks so smooth. Closest thing to wetsanding.

Yeah that color is VERY 70's!

I always loved the styling of that car, I like the round headlights much more but that style was WAAAAY ahead of its time because they look like modern headlights from the past 25 years or so.

Thanks for sharing 👍👍

Loved those when they came out, but same as Klasse, I liked the round lights better too.

Thanks for doing that car right.........

Nice work! Looks so much better now that it is the way it's supposed to be! And...cool car!

Thanks for posting!

That takes out more beauty of that ride! Love the color as well.

There was a period where Capris are the "it" vehicle in SF Bay Area. This and the Alpha GTV6. This was right around the time where low rider truck boom was dying down; '89-'91. Many are Centerline Auto Drag equipped, of course.

Killer save Aaryn. Like everyone else, I dig that color.

Nice work. That the soon to be re released back in the states Ranger in the back ground. I owned 3 of those over the years

Nice turn around there Aaryn..Cool color and nice sun light pics free of defects of course

Well done. My dad bought my sister a brand new yellow capri when I was a kid. Fun little car. Phil

Glossed for words, Did Stevie Wonder have a crack at this first? =)

No, poor thing didn't look so great on arrival at all. I love working with Essence & Essence+ & I know they have "filling" properties but in most instances in my shop I'll use them for their "gloss enhancing" capabilities. Both versions of Essence are nice to work with & if Essence+ is as durable as has been reported (haven't had it long in NZ to know for sure) then I believe it is a fantastic option as an LSP. Cannot beat the slickness & depth it creates. :dblthumb2:

A fun car indeed, & definitely an appropriate 70's colour.

Thanks. :xyxthumbs:

Same here, actually I liked the mk3 2.8 from the late 80's the most.

Nice work

Thank you. :xyxthumbs:

Nice job on that Aaryn.

Cheers mate. :xyxthumbs:

Nice turn around!

Thank you. :xyxthumbs:

Brilliant work, Aaryn! (literally).

Thank you Paul. :xyxthumbs:

Incredible work Aaryn!

I'll try to get to the Capri we did today. I have full sun hologram shots.

Very cool car and as always... perfect work.

Thank you Mike. :xyxthumbs:

You know, I had no idea until you told me Mike, that the Capri was ever sold in the States. I was always under the impression that the English built these as a replacement or a locally available option to the Mustang. Always learning on Autogeek Online huh! :xyxthumbs:

Even though I could see I was correcting the holograms & defects, I was still pleasantly surprised to see how it looked in the sunlight. Much nicer colour outside for sure.

Thank you. :xyxthumbs:

Greens are my "bling" colour recently.

Ya see, I never knew that at all. Like I said previously, I had no idea you guys got these over there.

Thank you Don. :xyxthumbs:

I can't help but imagine this colour on an early rag Bug for some reason . . . :xyxthumbs:

Nice work. That the soon to be re released back in the states Ranger in the back ground. I owned 3 of those over the years

Thanks. :xyxthumbs:

Yeah, thats the Ranger, although the one pictured is a couple of years old now, & the shape has changed a little. Very very popular truck here in New Zealand.

Nice turn around there Aaryn..Cool color and nice sun light pics free of defects of course

Cheers Jeff. :xyxthumbs:

Certainly changed the colour once those nasty holograms were sorted, almost looked like a "dirty" green before. Just needed some love.

Well done. My dad bought my sister a brand new yellow capri when I was a kid. Fun little car. Phil

Thanks. :xyxthumbs:

Nice. I'd have been pretty stoked with that, what a gift. :xyxthumbs:

Hahahaha! With the amount of overspray on this thing - I doubt Stevie would have let this slip by. Worst part is - the painter who painted it, is the same guy that ruined it! Go figure. :nomore:
