1976 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce

I had a client reach out to me about cleaning up a fun little car that he purchased to bomb around town and take to the beach!
41 year old Alfa Romeo…it’s been partially repainted sometime in the mid to late 80’s. And it looks as if it were painted in a barn…during a wind storm…blowing lots of debris around!
Let’s see what can be done!

The surface was full of defects. Some of the worst water spots I have seen to date. Major scratches, swirls, marring, hazing, cracking, fish eyes, dents, sanding marks, solvent pop, pitting, and the plastic trim was faded severely and on and on… It also showed signs of some poor body work that was performed and some rust that was rearing its ugly head.
Some panels were base/clear and others were original single stage.

End result is a classic roadster that still has some defects-some major scratches, dents, pitting, fish eyes, solvent pop, etc that was not going to be removed completely, however, this fun little Italian looks great now!


Process/tools/equipment/chemicals/etc:

Rinseless wash with McKee’s37 N914.
DeFelsko PTG
Clayed with Optimum aggressive clay alternative bar, and then again with Meg’s aggressive clay bar.
Rupes 21 MkII and iBrid.
Griot’s MF pads, Meg’s polishing discs.
Misc MF towels.
Griot’s Fast correcting cream was used for the first stage of correction.
NEW Blackfire Polish was used for the polishing/finishing stage of correction.
Lighting by Scangrip.
McKee’s37 N914 for final wipe down in the proper ratio.
NEW Blackfire Glass cleaner on the glass.
McKee’s37 AIO leather cleaner/conditioner on leather/vinyl surfaces.
Metro vacuum.
Adam’s APC on trim, floor mats.
McKee’s37 Trim Restorer (2 coats) on side mirrors, front and rear bumpers and filler panels. (this made such a huge difference in the overall appearance of the vehicle)
McKee’s37 High Def Paint sealant was the LSP of choice.
Adam’s VRT for tire dressing.

I can relate to that car since we was born the same year and both needs a restoration. Great work as the other cars you show us. A cool car that deserved some attention to it.
