This classic Porsche was a diamond in the rough. I detailed it last week. The car should be back on the road sometime this week so I will get some reassembled pics as soon as I can.

This job took me 2 days to complete. 9 hours of prep and polishing on the first day and around 6 more miscellaneous hours on day 2.

Initially I thought wow, this is going to be a challenge because I thought the haze was heavy oxidation and was afraid a complete refinish would ultimately be the solution.

Once you started to tape off sections and prove that the haze was little more than a heavy coating of dust I was shocked to see how gorgeous the paint had become.

What paint correction products did you use to restore this classic to it's rightful place?

Well, Bobby, the paint was quite heavily oxidized. You didnt watch the whole video, did you?

I used M105 with 5.5" Surbuf Microfinger pads on my GG d/a to cut away the majority of the defects and the oxidation and LC white CCS pads with M205 to finish.
 
Porsche looks great. I though it looked a bit like heavy dust too until I saw the before and after of the hood. Nice work!

Well, there was alot of dust, but also a heavy layer of oxidation.

man u sounded wore out by the end of the vid. u put a lot of work into this car. great work. i hope the owner appreciated it

There were a ton of factors that made this detail a pita. The owner was very satisfied, I mean, I saved him from having to paint the car.

I just got a call from the owner of this Porsche. He just bought a supercharged Z06 Vette he wants corrected. Id say he was pleased with this one.
 
Great job. How do u like those surbuf pads? Does something have to be real bad for you to use them? What menzerna polish would you use with those pads and what pad and menzerna polish would you follow up with?

I like them. They are very aggressive. I would use SIP or power gloss with them. I personally like to use them with m105 for heavy cutting power.

I will only use them if the defects are really bad. In most cases I can get the cut I need with a rotary, orange, and m105. I find the surbuf pads work very well on a d/a.
 
Watched the whole video. Great job Garry! Very good video skills as well. Fun to watch and you did a killer job on bringing that Porsche back.
