2 Gallons of Meg's Final Inspection $0.10

Both stores also told me they are not supposed to sell stuff that's .05 but sold it anyway. Kinda stupid that they're supposed to somehow just dispose of it but can't let someone walk out the door with it? Dumb. Anyway, I got a couple gallons of the Megs FI, a clay bar, a few trizact 3000 discs...

That seems stupid so there must be a reason. My guess is for tax purposes you can't have anything at zero value, so they reduce it to .05 to minimize their inventory value, but at that point it's just waiting to be scrapped and the managers are supposed to toss it. They should just mark it a 5 cents and let people buy it and love Advance for the great deal.

I completely forgot to look for the Trizact discs I was so excited to actually find the FI and clay...I think I was in a hurry because for 21 cents I really felt like I was stealing it.

Even though it seems counterintuitive at first, it makes good sense to eliminate the product from inventory. If the product remains in inventory:

1- it occupies valuable shelf space and real estate
2- it will continue to be touched by employees
3- It may need to be boxed and shipped back to a shipping point (perpetuating #2)
4- it will remain stagnant and not sell (perpetuating #1 through #3)

All of the above costs more money than what was spent to get to this point. This was a Meguiars closeout sale; they just didn't formally announce it.

I wonder if Advance is discontinuing M105 and M205 also? It is not listed on their website anymore. Did anyone happen to do a price check on either one of those products?

Does kinda feel like stealing LOL and I felt bad enough that I picked up a couple things that were not on clearance too, and donated $1 for one of those JDRF charity paper shoe things.

I only saw a handful of items on clearance, and not all of them were a nickel. One store had various clearance items throughout the store marked with red tags on the shelf, but there were not very many of them.... I noticed maybe half a dozen in the whole store.

In Providence,Cranston,Johnston RI all I found was 2# 3M trizact 3000g discs & 3# 8.oz permatex rust dissolver gels but hey for a quarter the Pepsi cost me more? Lol

My stores had it, but they wouldn't sell it. They said it had to be destroyed -.-

At the Shipshewana,IN flea market, I bought 4 gallons of Final Ins. for $1.99 each, plus 2 gallons of the Megs Vinyl for $1.99 each also. They had a whole pallet of the stuff. Also picked up a 24 Clay Magic sets for $1.50 a box, 6 Lake Counrty 6" backing plates for .99 cents each, 6 Megs Mirror Cleaner Wax for .99 cents each, 10 Lc CCS 6" White Pads, plus 8 6" Black pads for .99 cents each. My wife thought I was NUTS!!

I already sold 8 of the Clay sets on ebay, plus 4 of the plates. I'll sell 8 more clays, then that's it. Keeping the pads--never can have too many.

Now, with all the extra $$ I made, it's time to do some shopping on AG!!!! :D
(phewwwww...even my wife said I redeemed my buying madness!!)

The only AA that had M105 and 205 kept them in a locked glass cabinet; which in my mind was a death sentence for that product selling. Also, at $37 for a 32oz bottle that didn't help none-either. lol

Ha ha ha ha. By 'destroyed', he meant 'go home with me'. He is not lying though. I had 2 managers tell me the same thing, but they sold it anyway.

I would have put a dime on the counter and kept trucking.

I found 4 jars total today, $1 each. Got the same response, "I have to toss them or $1 each". I'm fine with it.

I hit Hammond,IN store. They were really clearing the shelves in the "body" aisle. Grabbed the last gallon of Final Ins, then a bottle each of 105, 205, 7 glaze, 26 wax. I found 3 clays too. Only the Final and clay came up .05. The 101 was a whopping $40.50!! Others were way higher than AG. No wonder.

I use only Menzerna from AG, but would have used those polishes on something for a nickel!

Thanks for the tip!!

I scored another clay at .05, I only had the info on one more store in my area that has clay, and none for FI, so I gave the cashier the SKU for the FI and asked him if they had it, he said no and it was coming up at .05 so it's gone, asked him if he could check other stores he said no (unlike a previous poster who was able to get that info).

I think I'm done, the first place I hit was the only one in my area that had both items. I wish I had written down all the area stores and what they had before they took it off the site.

My local AA had the meguiars blue clay for $12.99. No final Inspection!

In my case, and I think the first picture in the thread, the material is on the clearance rack with a clearance sale price sticker in the range of $15. However it rings up at $.05 because apparently they have changed those SKU's globally in their system to the "scrap" price.

I picked up mine today. Thanks to the OP.
