At least three years since it was waxed

This vette has been neglected, only washed a few times in the last three years. This black FRC has TEA heads/Futral Cam & Tuning 436hp/415tq and a few more mods.

Interior
DP Interior Surface Protectant on dash/door panels/console. On the leather was Pinnacle Leather Conditioner. Inside windows I used Diamondite perfact vision glass cleaner.

Tires/wells
Foam gun with a mix of Op car wash and dawn. Black shmitt and the 16" deep reach wire wheel brush. Wells and tires received no touch

The Gameplan
The foam gun with the same soap mix. Since the paint was a wreck, I used the Black shmitt. It was also clayed. Dried it with the WW, then taped off the trim. I used the rotary with a yellow wg pad, and 3M heavy cut. Speed at about 1800rpm. It still had some water etching left. And then used the Optimum Polish with the green edge pad on the pc. Topped it with my new favorite Pinnacle Signature Series II Carnauba Paste Wax.

The paint on a corvette is the same as is on a GM truck/car/van. GM and Chrysler use the same paint company at the factory.

Wow, awesome job! That thing is sweet now. I see a red one that needs some work.
Ed, what's your take on 3M polishes? They have them at auto paint stores in my area, they push 3M products pretty hard. If you don't mine, your thoughts?

Very nice turn around. I like the depth that black color gives, it's a difficult color to work with but it looks great when done right and you sir did a great job.

Thanks for sharing.

sparkie, 3M is not a bad polish. It's strong stuff, it's mostly meant for autobody shops that do heavy duty work. I haven't used any my self but I'm looking to use some soon, it's strong (good) stuff.

Sparkie, like Nica said. Not a bad polish, and can be very strong. That is why most autobody shops use it. I keep about 3-4 of there pro line on hand

I like 3Ms Perfect-it II Finishing Polish and Foam Pad Glaze (both the formula for dark and light cars). They work awesome with my rotary, but 3M does have some polishes that feel like sand in liquid.

Great looking Corvette.
