Had a call from a local construction company to buff out a truck they just bought. Said it had a bit of faded paint and wanted the ghosting removed on the doors from the old decals. Yeah....so several hours and 18 pads (mix of 6"3" and 2") I got it looking great! There is lots of crazing and microcracks on the fiberglass hood, but can't be seen from a few inches away.

*Griot's G21 and G6 (with 3" HD plate) and G3 (with 2" plate)
*All BOSS Orange pads. Tried MF, but they clogged up too quickly with the massive amounts of the residue was pulling off. Foam worked well although they had to be blown out after just a couple passes.
*Megs D166...yes Ultra Polishing Wax. And a lot of it...think i used 10oz on the truck. It worked surprisingly well. The oils really fed into the paint and absorbed a lot of it. Love industrial single-stage!
*Topped off with Griots'sBest of Show Wax

I think the pics speak for themselves. LOTS of work, but a very happy customer and has several more for me to do (but in much better shape).

We think the hood may have been resprayed at some point. It's just a tad darker that the cab is. I did find a good size run in it and/or the fiberglass substrate makes it a bit darker. Not sure, but what a huge difference!

Wow what an awesome save! And the little bit of faded paint cleaned up nicely LOL. The gloss and depth you got is amazing when compared with what you started with.

Great save. I enjoyed this write up a lot. It's not everyday that we get to see a semi truck detailed.

Looks Great!! you brought that ol single stage back to life!!

That is a ton of work and patience.,,,,The last one I seen that bad got detrimmed and sanded for a repaint at the body shop I worked at.

That looks great!! Good thing it was only a "bit" of faded paint lol. I really like working on SS paint. I usually go rotary and wool as a first step though. How many section passes to bring that paint back to life with that setup??

Incredible results!

I always wonder how many trucks, cars, equipment are sent down the road by their owners because their aforementioned vehicle looks old and tired like this Mack. Awesome save. The pictures speak for themselves:)
