2006 New Formula Red S2000

Like Matt, I have used Ultrafina on a PC with good results.

Interestingly, it was on a 2004 NFR S2000! Same car and color. Matt's was in worse shape though! Even used Leatherique ;) It is an AutoLavish car (Marc's ride), so it got pampered for something like 25 hours, lol.

Back on point, we tried many things on the 2000 to finish down. After going over the car with all the compounding we were finishing up with PO85RD on a red foam pad on the flex rotary. It looked great under lights. The next day we pulled it out, and it had a very slight haze. We then tried Ultrafina on the blue pad. It still had haze! I was beginning to believe there is such a thing as a too soft pad. The softer pads are very dense, and the heat buildup is more quick since there is less air circulation. But more on that in a future post. I desperately grabbed the PC, a blue pad, and the Ultrafina. Went at it really slow, and got perfect results!

I also had a Berlina Black S2000 once, and it marred while wiping with QD! Sold it, paint was too soft.

Boy you weren't kidding about it being dripping wet. Good job. One thing Matt, you said you used Ultrafina with a Flex. 3M recommends that you use Ultrafina with a blue pad on a rotary. They recommend 1500 to 1800 rpms and the Flex can not even come close to those speeds. From the look of the paint I guess you can jewel with the Flex.

Great job Matt !!!!

That is one fine looking S2K. Good luck with it.

Thank you!

Yeah, I opted for the gray pad instead of red/blue for that exact reason. I may go over it one more time if I get bored just for that extra wetness. :D

As for Berlina Black...I was strongly considering one until I read how soft the paint was. I knew that would drive me absolutely insane, so I decided to get the next best color to detail. ;)

Great Job Matt!

You are going to really like the S2k! Take it to a HPDE, fun as heck on the road course.

BTW, now you need to look into something like this: S2KI - S2000 Forums -> Vortech V2 Supercharger Kit w/ Aftercooler!

;)

Thanks, my buddy has one that's supercharged w/meth making around 400 at the wheels. However, I learned my lesson modding my past few cars and all the money I lost in the process...especially considering I haven't actually raced in awhile / never used the power. I'm just going to keep the car stock and enjoy it, but I will start autocrossing sooner or later since it would be good to learn the limits of the car at the very least. From there, who knows what will happen. :xyxthumbs:

Been throwing jigs at the quarter bridge in Stuart, alot of oversized fish though got a 38 1/2 incher the other night. Also have been hitting them on Mirror lure top dawgs just slowly reeling them through the shadow line and just watching them explode on it.

Congratulations, Matt, on your new S2000. I know you are going to love driving her. They really are great fun. You will miss the torque and power of the Corvette, but the S2000 just loves the curves. Have fun!

She looks great! Good work!

P.S. Come on over to the S2K site and share your pics with us.

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll head out there Sunday night with my dad.

Thanks. I've been posting on S2Ki as MattZ28 (registered that name there a long time ago).

WOW. look at that reflection. i think its first time i see red s2k, they must be rare

Thanks! There are quite a few red ones, but not as many as one may think. It seems that Silverstone is the most common color.

I'm always looking for S2's for sale on Autotrader and Craigslist, and white seems to be the most rare of the colors. I love the white with red interior. I'm hoping to have one by summer next year. There are so many great deals on silver ones in my area but it's such a common color. Yours looks amazing too btw. I normally don't care for red sports cars but I've just never seen one properly detailed like that one. :props:

Thanks! White/red is one of my favorite combos...I would have gotten red/red if possible, but red only comes with black interior. Can you tell I like red? :D

The white S2Ks look CLEAN as hell. But, I wanted a color I enjoy detailing and I don't enjoy doing anything to light colored cars. Easy maintenance though! Good luck in your search for the "perfect" S2K!

Matt you said the New Formula Red is single stage paint, is Berlina Black also single stage? Does anyone have any tips on polishing Berlina Black?
BTW your car looks AWESOME!!!

Actually, NFR is a normal base/clear system paint. The clear is "tinted" with more red, which can cause the pads to turm red while polishing.

Berlina Black is, also, a normal base/clear, but does not have a tinted clear. I think NFR is the only Honda color that uses a tinted clear coat, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks for the info, I thought it was CC but Matt said at the start of this thread his is SS.
