ECS Supercharged, ½ mile race car

The owner of this car wanted it ‘looking a little better’ for an upcoming race he is participating in this month.

This Corvette looked like it was never shown any love since it rolled off the assembly line! Holograms, swirl-city, scratches, pitting, hazing, marring, you name it, it had it.

Plan of attack: Reduce as many defects as possible and ceramic coat the car.

The paint was painfully thin. It averaged around 2.3 mils.

The vehicle was rinseless washed with Adam’s rinseless wash. Clayed with a Griot’s medium mitt with rinseless was as lube. Paint readings were taken via DeFelsko.
Rupes 21 MkII, 12lr, and iBrid were used with an assortment of foam and microfiber pads.
Blackfire Compound and Polish were chosen after numerous test spots. The paint seemed to respond well and like them.
LSP was McKee’s 37 paint coating. Tire dressing was Adam’s VRT. Glass was cleaned with a dedicated glass MF towel and Blackfire glass cleaner. The exhaust tips were cleaned with Pinnacle exhaust cleaner and brightener.
The interior was vacuumed via Metro and wiped down with McKee’s Fast Interior Detailer. The engine compartment was wiped clean with Adam’s APC and then AutoFinesse Revive trim dressing was used on the plastic/rubber bits.

Great work as always Scott. The BF twins are such great products that are rarely talked about but work so well.

Happy New Year Scott. :props:

Nice turn around on this beast for sure, fantastic work my friend. Gotta take a couple of tenths off on the next run at least, it looks slicker than oil. :xyxthumbs: Stunning. I don't envy polishing that bonnet (hood) at all. These Corvettes just scream "lets wreak you back" all day long.

As Don has mentioned - there are so many great products that do not get the "air time" they deserve but produce brilliant results. I get a bit jealous of the options you guys have, yeah sure I can ship them into New Zealand but liquids are heavy & expensive to land here, so choosing is quite an affair.

Super post mate, thank you for sharing.

Nice work as always.

Any idea on times in the 1/2 mile or horsepower?

Car looks like a shadow

What does it do in the 1/2 mile with a Katech built engine and S/C?

Mine isn't covered in salt and I'm in Chicagoland:

Thanks for the comments everyone! I believe he's putting down mid 700's to the wheels and trapping around 170mph in the 1/2 mile. I will get accurate numbers from him and update!

Impressive numbers. Sounds like fun!

I bet it would give the new ZR1 some competition and more than likely win.

Renting looks like it has some huge perks:)

I have hot water and a heated garage at work, but only work vehicles to wash. Coworker told me it was too cold to wash yesterday. I laughed and said watch me. Then I left the car inside for 5 hours to dry all the jambs and seals. I know what you’re thinking dry off the jambs. Trust me you wouldnt worry about wiping out the jambs on our fleet vehicles. I work with the slobbiest young guys. No one has washed or vacuumed a car in months except me.

Excellent work Scott! I got flashbacks to Nasty when I saw those pics, so I know you did too!

Thanks everyone!!!!

Mike, lol, it does...and I did! hahaha
