This was a fun detail. The owner of the vehicle was gone on a business trip and her husband scheduled the detail and got everything setup to be finished before her return. The main concern was removing all of the swirl marks in the paint and also taking care of a dent on the passenger rear door. They also opted for a ceramic glass coating to keep the vehicle protected and easier to maintain going forward.

Products used:
CarPro Iron-X Snow Soap
Meguiar's Hyper Wash
CarPro Iron-X
Nanoskin Mild Grade Mitt
ONR @ Clay Lube Dilution
Meguiar's Wheel Brightener @ 4:1
Meguiar's D101 APC @ 10:1
Meguiar's Hyper Dressing @ 4:1
IPA 50%
CarPro Eraser
CarPro Reload
Simonize GlassCoat

Paint correction performed using:
Meguiar's M205
Meguiar's M100 (in isolated spots)
PC7424XP DA Polisher
Flex 3401 VRG DA Polisher
5" Meguiar's DA MF Cutting Discs
5" Buff & Shine MF Finishing Pads

On to the show...

’08 Altima as delivered. The owner keeps it very clean but is tired of all the scratches and swirl marks.

This would be popped out using paintless dent repair (PDR).

The entire car was riddled with swirl marks, water spots and other isolated defects...

My goal was to get the paint corrected in one step. I did not promise full correction (and was not in the budget); however, this particular paint system REALLY liked M205. I'd say most panels achieved 90%+ correction.

Wow.

Very surprised the paint responded to 205 like that. Good for you and even better for them. Nice work.

Beautiful work buddy. As previously stated that is a great 50/50 shot. Great turnaround once again.

Beautiful job! Echo previous - one of the most obvious 50/50 shots I've ever seen.

Those dark blue metallic paints always seen to look amazing when done right!

Simoniz Glasscoat eh, how is this stuff?

Any water behavior videos?

It's actually a decent product. I think it gets a bad wrap due to the stigma of any "dealership applied" product because of the way it's sold. As far as I understand most dealerships also will not correct the paint before applying whatever sealant or coating they offer, essentially locking in all the dealer and factory installed imperfections.

When applied to a properly polished and prepared surface GlassCoat actually lasts quite a while and the hydrophobic properties are on par with CQuartz or OC 2.0 at least for the 12 months I've been testing it. I will say that it's a pain to apply so when my stock runs out I will switch back to only offering CQuartz & CQFinest.

What is your process for detailing around the lettering in picture #3 ?

I can't remember exactly what I used for this... it was either M105, M100 or CarPro Fixer by hand using a MF towel to polish all around the letters. Also, Q-Tips work great for polishing intricate areas like this.

Cool thanks for the speedy response :)

I have about 5 bottles I was given by a simoniz guy I ran into gave me. Used on my escalade and a customers car. Escalade didn't get anything after Oct and was beading in Feb when traded in. Customer hasn't called for a wax yet so I'm sure its still golden almost a year later.
