Client of mine recently picked up a Hyundai Genesis and told me over the phone that it needed some work. We did an initial inspection under the LED lights and it was a mess. We're not certain but the belief is the car was repainted before being sold used, and the shop did a terrible job finishing the job. Swirls, haze, and some of the worst rotary buffer trails / holograms I've ever seen. It was the most impressive display of holograms since that time they brought tupac back to life on stage (look it up - it happened)

Ended up doing a 3 step correction on this one to get it pretty close to perfect. Some minor randoms remained but overall a drastic improvement.

Flex & Makita rotary + PFW + m100
Flex & Griots DA + MF pads + d300
Flex & Griots DA + LC white + Menz SF4000

Pains me to look at the before photos... here we go

passenger side quarter panel

Passenger door

the roof

Closeup on the hood

Driver quarter panel

Also removed the rear badges per the owners request

After the correction, protected the finish with Opti-Coat Pro

Just 1 man in his shop playing entirely too much drum & bass music here in Long Island, NY

Great work! :xyxthumbs:

That thing was really hacked up before, but you saved it.

Excellent work as always you made that Genesis look brand new again

Totally agreed on one of the worst holograms ever showed, making your picture one of the best holograms ever showed...

And the correction, the best possible, you 'nailed' it ahhaah

Congratulations on your work, car looks amazing.

Kind Regards.

Incredible turnaround, how much time did you have in this job?

Beautiful!! I am curious...My son has a 2012 and the paint was rock hard. Was the paint on that one the same?

Awesome Job. :props:

I had a 2011 of the same color...Mirabeau Blue. She sure was pretty all shined up.

Really starting to miss that car.

My 2011 did not have hard paint. I found it quite nice to work with...not VW/Audi hard and not Honda soft (big generalizations, I know)

Wow. What a horrible mess. Definitely a good time to have a rotary, and the talent to use it properly. :) Great work!

Maybe they changed in 2012 or maybe it's because it's a different color??? All I know is that was the hardest paint I have ever worked on.

That's weird because my 2011 and my 2013 have SUPER soft paint!

Yes, you stare at the car wrong and swirls/scratches appear LOL

To the OP; great save!!! car looks really good!

What i DON'T like is the half-a** job on the emblems. I replaced all my Hyundai emblems with the Wing ones. This one just has the back. :(

kinda lost track a bit but it was somewhere in the range of 15 hours total

I'm almost certain this car was a full repaint when it changed hands through the used car dealer. So any discussion of factory hard or soft clear is kind of out the window.
