2014 Corvette PlatstiDip Project

For me- one of the coolest threads. The results look great. It is a textbook case of you get out of it what you put into it. Really glad to hear how well it is holding up for you.

It has been a fun project. I want to do- it again but I like this color too much to change

2+ years still holding up well
Great daily driver/grocery getter

Gets about 22mpg around town and up to 32mpg on long trips

Thats one badass grocery getter, looks awesome!

I'm so happy to see this: a Corvette actually on the road and being driven/enjoyed at every opportunity.

I pains me to see any performance car that lives it's life tucked away in a garage and never sees the road. The only way to truly enjoy the vehicle as it's creators intended to to drive the pants off of it. Not sitting in the garage to be looked at once in a while.

Back on topic: OP, have you PlastiDip'ed wheels? I'm buying a set of autocross wheels and they don't come in the color I want. I'm thinking of PlastiDip to make them the color I want. Since they won't be my daily driven set the risk of it not going well would be low and I could always just peel it off.

I dig the ZR1 bumper, will you be adding a splitter to it as well? Satin orange will look awesome great choice.

I have the splitter paint matched as well but may not add it as it may be too low. I’ve broken 3 splitters already and the zr1 one is a good bit lower

Sorry to hear about the accident. Satin orange sounds like a good option if you’re dipping it again.

That looked like it definitely peeled off easier than the vinyl wrap I peeled off the hood of the FJ a couple of years ago. Using a heat gun made it come off easier but in small strips, no heat gun would result in bigger strips, but very hard to get off. I guess the heat of the engine baked it on, there's no insulation pad underneath. Took me about 6 hours in the end. How long to peel the whole car?

An hour or 2. Didn't really time it or rush. It would be faster without the clear coat

I still have a little dip in a few edges and seams I have to deal with
