2015 Ford Mustang

Big improvement IMO and the GT will likely perform scary close to my '10 GS Vette.

The best Stang in years. Can't wait to see one in person and polish on one.

I'm still on the fence about this one but I think it will grow on me. I can't say I was a huge fan when I first saw the pics of the red one but after seeing a few rolling shots in the video I like it better. I want to see one in grabber blue with white stripes!

Talk about putting the Pony before the cart, I guess this won't be on the dealer lots until late 2014?

Sorry. Nope. Too European looking for my taste. Doesn't look like an American muscle car anymore.

Fair enough; but as I said in my original post- the ORIGINAL Mustang was designed with European influence. It was meant to compete both with other American sports cars, but also European sports cars. They even advertised it's European styling. It's hard to believe, but in the 1960's European sports cars and the Mustang were every bit as similar (if not more) as this model is to European cars of today.

That said; I do still think I favor the old styling; but the new styling could grow on me.

This was not the kind of body style change that the Fusion was; which was a slam dunk I think for most people. But that's because the Fusion doesn't have half a century of heritage behind it! As I said before, if you showed me this car and didn't tell me it was a Mustang, I would love it!

Well they typically announce big model changes in advance of them being available.

And yeah- that's what they've been saying; late 2014 availability. I think they did it on purpose. 'Purists' so to speak, and those who don't like the new body style, will likely clear out dealer inventories of the old body style in time for the new one and all of it's new customers!

As opposed to when the 5.0 came back, which made previous 4.6L GT's very undesired and killed their value. Dealers were just about giving the 4.6's away! Hard to compete with a cheaper V6 mustang with a new body style and the same horsepower; and a GT for the same price with WAY more horsepower. Even now, used, there's a 'cliff' in price, with the 4.6 GT's and previous V6 models being thousands cheaper than one model year newer with the new 3.7L V6 and Coyote 5.0.

Maybe it's the Euro influence that attracts me to this new Mustang. I find cars like the Ferrari posted and the beginning of this thread and others like the Jag E-type to be some of the most beautiful cars ever built.

It's funny that the Fusion is brought up as the front of that car is a dead rip-off of an Aston Martin. I'm surprised Aston's new owners didn't take Ford to court over that one.

Ford still owns a chunk of Aston though don't they? Either way, I'm sure through Ford's ownership initially that Ford still retains certain patents and things. They still use a lot of technologies from Volvo and Jaguar in their cars as well- because they still own the patents or at least rights!

I don't know that they DO own rights to it or whatever- just saying it's a possibility!

Has lines of a Fastback, which is really cool.
It still has a little retro in it, but changing enough not to become dull.

I like it, it is pretty cool

I see a lot of the Fusion in it, kinda like a 2 door version. Still prefer the Camaro and Dodge offerings more. But to each their own ....

Looks sharp. However, I can not bring myself to spend $70k on a Mustang, ever, no matter the situation.

Ditto. I'd rather get a used M3. It's still a Mustang that needs to sell like a zillion cars to keep Ford profitable. Corners will be cut. They will all share the same basic architecture. It does look nice though.

The above statement may piss off some Mustang fans, but that's life. Why buy a car with Euro influences, when the Mustang you really want will likely cost as much as a Euro sports car.

There are quite a few mustangs I would pay $70k for. (If I had $70k in a bank account). None of them would have been built after 1970 though.

I think the $70k mustangs are kind of a niche thing though- for enthusiasts. Fact is, the Mustang is a pretty good deal equipped right. A Base V6 is pushing 300 horsepower at the rear wheels, with a nice 6 speed transmission for around $21,000 sticker. Ford routinely runs lots of incentives- they are not a brand you'd really be paying close to sticker for anyway (My Focus was MSRP'ed at $21,400- I paid $16,480. Special order from the factory). You're still under $30k with a 400+ horsepower GT, and you can even throw a convertible in the mix or even a completely loaded V6 rag top in the mix for that.

The Mustang has a huge price spread and if you start doing crazy stuff and sending it off to Shelby and so on and so forth you can spend some money- but it's not an expensive car, really.

Personally, I don't think I like it. Maybe it's just me, but from the side mirrors back it looks like a Honda Accord coupe. Don't get me wrong, I like a Honda Accord coupe, but this is a Mustang, not a Honda. The front end is rather sleek looking, but overall, it just doesn't speak to me.

+1

Agreed, the $70k Mustang is only applicable to the 2013/2014 Shelby's, anyway. A base Shelby w/ no options starts at $54.8k. I'd say $55k for a Shelby w/ 662 horsepower and 631 ft/lb of torque is a screaming deal, especially when its competitors are the ZR1 ($105k+) and GTR ($99.5k). A fully loaded 2014 Shelby convertible in Ruby Red w/ all options is a hair over $70k. That gets you the adjustable suspension, different wheels, navigation, glass roof, recaros, etc. But, again, this isn't the vehicle the masses will purchase.

My parents have a black 2014 Shelby coupe w/ glass roof, SVTPP, track pack and electronics package. Sticker was a little over $66k. Until you have spent time in and around these cars it's easy to dismiss them as an "overpriced" Mustang. But, get some appreciable seat time in them and one could easily make the argument that Ford seriously under priced this niche model.

Took a glimpse at the car and the front looked kinda of like a dodge dart but it looks nice

I love the car and looks great. yes the car might look like a honda, audi so on, but remember we change due to market changes. With that said thats what "customers" are looking for. If you take a look at the name brands just mentioned they all look alike in some way, look at the pick up trucks, dodge, ford and chevy they all in some way look the same due to thats what people are buying and want. With that said look at the prices, Ford is one of the best priced company and not only that it gives the customer more options in choosing a car/truck than any other company out there. Just my 2 cents lol, overalll any car will have its pros and cons just depends who you asking.
