I finally got a chance to detail my new truck (bought new in 2018). It’s amazing how buying a new house can take up your weekends.
I knew that I would be detailing the truck so I have avoided soft touch and tunnel washes since I got it. However living in Minnesota I use touch less washes in the winter (primarily for the underbody wash). I wish someone would come up with a better touch less wash!
Anyway back to the detail! Here’s the process
Washed with MTM foam cannon and black fire foam soap ( new purchase! Thanks autogeek)
Clayed with mother’s clay bar (using up what I had laying around) and Carpro immlube
Rinsed again
Taped up then the fun part! I got to break I my birthday present to myself! Rupes LHR 15 mark 3
After my test spot I found that the rupes yellow pad and polish. I did 1 section pass
I’m amazed at how much quicker I was able to polish using the rupes vs my pc7424 took about 4-5 hours for the whole truck.
Next I used Carpro Essence extreme gloss and Carpro gloss pads
Finally it was time to apply my first coating. Carpro uk3.0. It expired in December so I was a bit nervous using it but it applied easily and a breeze to remove. I did use three towels just to make sure I got all of it off.
I’m going to let it sit for 24 hours then hit it with some reload. - what towels are people using for reload?
