After a busy summer, I'm finally getting a chance to catch up on posting some work I've done.

Back in January my daughter and son-in-law started shopping for a new car. I had the privilege of helping them through the process as first time car buyers and also helping them get something fun. My SIL has dreamed of owning a Hemi-powered Charger since they hit the market when he was a kid, so this made the car a little more special. When asked if I would detail the car, I answered "yes" without hesitation. Here are the results from the work I did over Memorial Day weekend.

The car was brand new with very few miles. The dealership honored their request and didn't detail it. Due to winter weather and constant rain, the car had only been washed a couple time and they gave it a layer of Griots 3 in 1 to protect it until I could come down and coat it for them (they live a couple states away). The paint was pristine it only a couple random spots of marring. Most likely from removal of the shipping materials.

Here is the car as I found it. A little wet and muddy from being driven in the rain for weeks.

Since I was going to coat it, I gave it a quick polish using Griots BOSS Perfecting Creme and a variety of polishing pads I have on hand. While I didn't have much to correct and the car was only a few months old, polishing it out did actually improve the gloss. The gloss was much more crisp and the paint looked like it was glowing.

When the polishing was complete I coated it in CQuartz UK 3.0. My go-to coating when I'm doing someone else's car. The blue color is insane. I've mentioned being a sucker for blue cars in the past, and this is a top contender for the best blue I've every seen. This is under my work lights in their garage.

Once I finished I backed it out for a couple quick photos. Sadly there was more rain on the way, so I couldn't get some full sun pictures, but it still looks really good.

Looks great! That blue sure is beautiful, especially under the work light. He picked a hell of an engine for his first hemi powered car! Indigo blue and B5 blue are my two favorites for the Chargers/Challengers.

Looks great. Excellent job!

Now he needs a tire upgrade. Those RSA's...um...are... I'll just say...awful.

Love that color. That car definitely needs tint and as noted, real rubber.

Awesome find and stunning, vibrant color.

Now tell him..."keep it that way".

Thanks! Not only was this his first hemi powered car, but it was his first "real" car. Prior to this he had a ratty old hand-me-down Cavalier and the a slightly less ratty Subaru Forrester. It is a huge step up in many ways.

Great color, looks fantastic, well done!

Very Nice

Thanks everyone!

As for the tires, he's just trying to wear them out at this point. Unfortunately, he works in the medical field and must be able to get to work every day, regardless of weather. This is his daily driver. Also, I doubt he'll ever be someone to swap out wheels/tires seasonally like I do. This means he'll probably end up in the all season tire realm. Where they live sees frequent ice storms and last year actually got quite a bit of snow. Putting summer tires on that car isn't an option. A set of Conti DWS 06's will suit him well over the Goodyears.

As much as I dislike Goodyear tires and despite all the terrible experiences I've had with them, those on the car now aren't all that bad. The only time I've been able to drive the car was this winter when they came to visit. It was snowing heavily at the time and the roads were a combination or wet, slushy, or covered in about .5" of snow. The car actually stayed pretty planted despite the massive weight and huge torque. By driving it responsibly I had no traction issues at all and still kept pace with traffic.

Awesome find and stunning, vibrant color.

Funny you say that. I taught my daughter how to wash and care for her car properly while she still lived at home. Right now, she cares for this car until she can, "teach him how to do it right...". Her words. Not mine. :D

Awesome car! I miss my Daytona 392

It looks amazing. Any plans on replacing the wheels and tires? I can imagine your Charger in these American Racing rims that I saw on 4wheelonline.

It's my son-in-law's car, not mine.

I think he's pretty happy with the wheels as they are. He's toyed with the idea of putting on new tires, but we had a pretty long discussion on the topic. He doesn't have space for swapping summer/winter sets so he'll need to stick with all seasons for now. Also the OEM tires on there now are the maximum width you can safely run on a wheel that wide, which will drive the need to stay OEM sized right now. Honestly, since it is simply a fun daily driver, he really doesn't need anything different tire-wise.
