3D One

I used 3D one for the first time today and it did a great job at cutting and finishing LSP ready, but it was a bit of a pain to remove. It pretty oily for me. Has any one experienced this as well? And tips on helping with the removal or did I just use too much product? It did great on the Jeep's paint.

3D One is very oily. That was the first thing I noticed about it. It smells like wd-40 and basically the wipe off process is what you would imagine it would be like if using wd-40 as a polish... a buttery, endlessly streaky, catastrophe. I bought a gallon when it launched and we've gone through about half of it now. It certainly is a good product in terms of cutting ability and finishing ability. Works great on finicky paints that don't want to finish down with our normal go-to combos. Really the only downside is the oily residue wipe off. I'll keep it around to use as a 'troubleshooting' high-lubricity polish but I'm not so sure it will warrant a re-stock unless they update the formula for easier wipe off.

3D One is no doubt oily but it’s dependant on temperature and humidity.

The hotter it is, the quicker it clogs a pad (liquid not the only factor here) and the more oily and difficult to wipe off.

However, adding an IPA wipe down step pre inspection deals well with the residue with ease.

This step is highly recommended with any oily polish/compound as it makes it impossible to view pure results without it.

Bonus Info: Don’t consider the IPA wipe down between sets as pre-sealant/coating prep. You’ll need to get far more serious with a wax & grease remover to ensure the panel is perfect.

I use Kleenstrip Prep All....love that stuff! I've been saying since day one, that 3D ONE is very oily. However, it gives some pretty good results, so I deal with it at times. Works well in the sun, doesn't dry out.

Just seems like this would be a headache.

(And I am a big 3D fan).

As Nick stated, a pro might want to have this on hand. But for us weekend guys that have found what works well for us, why bother with ONE if it is presenting wipe off difficulty?

And while it's a very, very good polish I wouldn't necessarily say It's "revolutionary" or "game changing".

I still tend to favor the Menzerna over One.
