A Close Look at the New Chinchilla Microfiber Buffing Cloth

I'm tickled blue with the rolled edge mf towels. I had sworn off cobra towels but I LOVE those. I have some opinions and thoughts on these chinchillas but they don't matter since I have no actual experience with them. I like the name :)

It seems like the only weak spot in autogeeks lineup (the mf towels) is being resolved. First they brought on the Sonus. Then those rolled edge blue towels are just so important in bringing a good name to the mf lineup. Props AG!

Sworn off Cobra towels? I thought Cobra's were the gold standard in microfiber towels, hence their price.

What are your favorites, Corey?

I am not a fan of plush mf towels. they tend to bunch up when buffing paint even when using a quick detailer they bunch up. they have been aweful at removing wax and polish. i always have to fold them into smaller and use more pressure. also they don't pack well, they take up so much space.

looking at the photos they don't look like they slide along the paint very easily.
I agree with you about plush microfiber towels. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong or maybe I didn't have enough wax on paint etc, as they bunch up terrible. I have purchased a number of them from AG, however, I will look for better towels for using with quick detailer. Maybe for a final wipe down after all material has been taken off they would be ok. Anybody else know of good towels for removing quick detailer. I'm using ONR diluted with soft water for my quick detailer of choice.

I too prefer the short nap versus the plush. I have several plush towels from Carrand to CG sesquatch towels...all sitting in a box. They may however be perfect for ONR washing where you want the long nap for crud to have a place to go ...but for polishing, quick detailers , or final wipe down, short works so much better for me.

These towels look awesome and I can't wait to try them. They remind me of my old favorite "Shamrock" towel. I haven't used them in a while due to the linting problems they tend to have.

I agree with Mark. If the towel is to plush it just absorbs all the QD etc when you are buffing. These towels do look fantastic for the final buff.

I agree.

If they made the soft towels half the size it would help prevent bunching up.

went to the ag store and could not find them. when will they be available and how much?

Agree about ONR and for Waterless too!

I agree as well with all of you about using that for ONR. I have always preferred a plush mf towel with ONR over any kind of mitt. My only question is will it work as well as the rolled edge towels for normal towel use like QD, wax buffing, etc.

Btw: thanks for the shout Dan :)

I personally like a plush MF when using a waterless wash product. I feel the long nap traps the dust and grime better and locks it in.

I also have a bunch of these towels from a local dealer near me in Jersey.

These are all I use for QD and wipedowns.

These are NOT the same material as the old shamrock and green towels that were offered a while ago around the detailing community. The fiber is MUCH more absorbent on these.

and NO linting left on the car at all.

I suggest you try these before coming to any conclusions. you will likely just come to a wrong conclusion just from looking at the pic of the towel and your past experience with towels that "LOOKED" the same. trust me, these are not.

Like the OP said, if you prime the towel with 3 sprays first, then wipe, and follow up with a second towel, you can do the entire car with 2 towels.

The manufacturer of this towel also has a similar one for wax buffing (its blue in color) that is softer , thinner and has a different density. Those are also amazing. hopefully AG picks them up.

btw, these towels (and the wax ones) are durable and never ever feel stiff after being washed like some of the really tight weave towels that we are used too.

The edge is microfiber on this towel.

Mike does have some good points. I think we bought them from the same place...haha. These are definitely different than the shamrocks, they work much better. However, I still prefer a shorter nap for spray waxes and quick detailing, but these will work. Final buff FTW! They're so nice , plush and soft, I almost don't want to use them!

these need to go on bogo soon or my chinchilla detailing poncho is going to cost me an arm and a leg...

I guess I could always just rub myself up against the car while wearing it...

Dear Friends

I just ordered one of these today, thanks to the free-shipping promotion.

Plus, I ordered the Sonus towels that Corey likes.

And some other stuff I just wanted but really didn't need.
