BetaB said:This explains why when i leaned on the pads more, the orange would cut more than the green(i'm talking like WAY too much pressure). I really love the orange pad, it's by far my most used and abused pad.
The Edge said:Ok, so here are my thoughts.
First, the Orange has not been on website because it was made by request for AG but we are not limited to AG for sales of this Orange as it is a common product in the market.
Second, we have not listed it on our site because it does not really fit in when comparing apples to apples as it is a European style "stiff" foam and does not work on the same principle as the USA foams. The USA foams cut based on pore size or porosity, the European foams cut on stiffness and density not just pore size. Therefore we have not listed it on our site but made this pad for customers that special request it and let them describe it how they wish. Now that there is so much confusion we will be making a chart on our site. This chart will be seperated into USA or Standard Edge foams, European or Non Standard Edge foams, and then just other USA non standard foams which include the new AG red foam.
In my opinion, the Orange pad is very agressive, and cuts faster than any of our foams which puts it in my book as the most agressive pad. It works by pressing the chemicals harder against the paint and doing more work faster that way. Because the pore size is tight it does not produce what looks like a really cut or micromarred surface like the yellow or green durafoams do, but either way you will be polishing out the surface with a secondary process and a soft polishing pad.
This brings me to the third point which is, the white pad that someone described here as stiff is a very old Durafoam version of the white which we discontinued a few years ago after people expressed dislike with the finishing pads being stiff. All our finishing pads are soft USA squishy style foams as they really polish best.
Thanks for listening and your support of Edge pads and products.

If you want more fun with Edge pads, look into their wool pads. I have a complete set of 6" and 8" Edge 2K wool pads in addition to all their foam pads (4", 6", & 8" in flat & convoluted for 6" and 8") and I really like their wool pads a lot, especially for initial cuts and for working gel coats on RV's, trailers, etc.BetaB said:same here, i need my fix of euro foam.
Nimble said:So who sells the European versions? Is that what AG has? What about other vendors in the US?
The Edge said:The Cyclo pads we make have this Yellow European foam, and Adam's Polishes has a 6 inch pad that uses the White European foam as well.
Nimble said:So wait, if I were to order the 4" Edge 2K pads from AG, and only get the yellow, green, and white, would I not have an aggressive enough pad in that yellow for major defect removal? What about the 4" org cyclo pad? How does that set up fit (yellow, org, grn, wht)? I noticed that you do not have a blue in the 4" size. So does that mean the white and green are different than their 6" counterparts? Ugh, this seems more confusing than it need be, having one style, per color, not changing based on durafoam, euro, cyclo, 6", etc.![]()
The Edge said:Sorry for the confusion, but different machines, and applications require us to have many different styles of foams. In the 4 inch if you need more agressive the Orange is the same as it is in the 6 inch. The White and Green are also the same. The yellow is not the same as in the 6 inch, but then again they were made to work on different machines and that yellow works better. At the end of the day, it does come down to personal preference alot of the time and since we react to our customers needs, our product line continues to grow and grow. Again, we will be making a pretty detailed chart shortly on our site and I hope that will help to clear up some of the confusion.
