Recently Mike asked the forum for his help in finding a post he made on Meguiars On Line(MOL). This pertained to the myth about using newspaper to clean glass and why that is.

https://www.autogeekonline.net/foru...wspaper-clean-glass-theory-mol-win-prize.html

It isn’t specifically because it’s so good or the best cleaning medium. Turns out it’s more likely it was used because, it was free or cheap, easily available and didn’t have to bother cleaning it, just throw it out when you’re done!

Mike offered a prize to anybody who could find the answer/post to his question. He and Autogeek have given out many prizes and have rarely ever asked we (just a guess bc they’ve never asked me to) leave a review!

Anyways, I received a package from Autogeek, this being one I actually hadn’t ordered haha. (Thought I’d be in trouble again!)

Upon opening the box I was met with much more than I had expected! I knew I’d have one specific item and did not think there’d be so much more inside!

Mike mentioned a specific item, that being a rotary polisher, I never imagined I’d be given backing plates and a large assortment of pads! As well as a hand signed book!

More details about the polisher can be found in Mike’s thread here.

So again, Mike, thank you so much for this gift!

I wanted to make a separate post within this thread to extend my thanks to all the longtime and/or active forum members. Everybody who interacts and makes this place, this forum exactly what it is! An extended online community, online friends and family.

Lastly, a thanks to the moderators who run the forums. I’ve been on many forums over the years and none have been run like Autogeek Online!

Enjoy the PE8

Apologies the pads are all used ( but clean), I would still use them and wanted to make sure you had some starter pads.

After you use a few of the free pads you’ll know better what you’ll want to buy.

Meh, to be honest I was expecting brand new pads, extensions and backing plates all in the packaging!!

Just kidding of course!! I really appreciate them as I was unsure of where to start pad wise. I’ve only used the nano polishers in your classes and never fully experimented with a rotary so this is a great starting point. I’m really interested in trying the wool pads as well.

Looking forward to using this polisher for some headlight correction on my in laws vehicles. They need it badly..

Awesome haul, David!

Agreed on the sentiments about AGO.

Keep us posted on your thoughts of the PE8!

Yup, I have too many guys to name who have lifted me up. I’m am grateful for the help I have gotten here.

I ONLY thing I can’t figure out is the whole pads selection thing.

Too many color pads, blue, red, white, black, yellow, green, ahh it’s a headache.

Pads can definitely be tough to decipher!

I recommend going with one brand and grabbing a select set of colors and about 6 of each.

Example: Lake Country Flats(regular or thin pro)

6xOrange 6xWhite to start.

If you’re working on Subaru’s or jet black Porsche’s

maybe add 3-6xBlack and/or 3-6xBlue.

After you get comfortable with those(These options will offer more cut)

Microfiber cutting pads(I like Meguiars and Uro-fiber).

Foamed Wool(Lake Country).

Try not to master too many variables at once, those flat pads will do a lot of work for you!
