Hanging beside the garage door late this afternoon. Known as a Regal Moth and the catepillar is known as the 'Hickory Horned Devil' and can be as big as a hot dog in size. That's my thumb next to it.

They sure are pretty. I see them here every now and then, Hummingbird moths too.
That's an interesting find and it just reminded me of this green moth I saw a couple of weeks ago.
Isn't that the one from the original Dr. Doolittle? The Great Lunar Moth?
Oh, I forgot, most of you are too young to remember Rex Harrison as DD.
Looked this moth up on google.
The moth is really cool looking...but I would run from this if I saw it

Wow, read up some more about this moth, you are very lucky to have seen this. Apparently adult moths after pupating only live for about a week. They have no mouth parts as adult moths!
