Accidents can happen.

Ive never understood air bags. People bump a deer and they go off yet I just finished rebuilding an 03 GMC 2500HD that hit a telephone pole at 60mph+ and ruined the frame yet the air bags never went off.

A lot of it has to do with sensor placement.

lol, the bumper of his car backed into my grille it is crushed almost to the point where its touching the radiator

so your dad was in a small accident by himself? he backed into your car? where did this happen?

I did not do it, A man was pulling out and my dad was behind him and the man backed up and hit his car.

Just wanted to know an estimate

The estimate is going to vary based on body shop. My dads Prius was hit from behind and he then tapped the guy In Front of him both bumpers cracked. Replacing both, having the support bar underneath and air bag light reset was around 4000 through insurance at a good shop. Yours could very well be over 4000 based on what was described.

Im in a 2004 audi. There is no support under the hood, but the cars grill work and bumper is the biggest of the problems. The area near the front an center is scratched a bit and the hood has a dent about the size of a penny to a quarter

It might be good to just go get a couple of estimates? That way the guesswork will be taken out of the situation and you'll know for sure what you're working with. :xyxthumbs:

Yes I know, if a new bumper, hood, and other assorted pieces need to be ordered and painted youll easily be in the thousands.

This is really the best thing to do, we can sit here till we're all blue in the face giving you an estimate but only the body shop is going to give you the right numbers. Do your research first and find one that does good work. As with most things related to cars, you pay for what you get. Some shady shop may do it dirt cheap but theres a reason why.

Heres my situation update. We might need a new hood as it is damaged and is connected to the grill which is crushed in. If we do need a new hood and grill, the hood will be unpainted so we will need a paint job, clear coat and other parts which could put the price up to thousands.
I have found sheetmetal audi a6 hoods for 400 dollars without paint which is the more expensive part.

What about bumpers? Was there any structural damage?

I currently do no know about the bumpers structure. It seems fine, but I will get it checked by a mechnic. I will be going soon, but I need the car for a few more days

UPDATE

I will be needing a new hood and the bumper will be repaired. I will also might need a new grille piece.

However,
The car was brought to a very reputable mechanic and detailer in town. The owner said that the car looks great as in detailing quality.

I am happy to here that

What actually happened here? Also, how did the accident happen, road conditions, etc?

My dad was behind somebody and the person in front went out too far, he then backed up without looking and hit my dad. Road conditions were fair as there was okay viewing distance

Yup, that's body shops for you, they always find something else broken, even if they have to break it themselves.
