Adam's versus Menzerna

Guys I would take advantage of the existing thread and if the author allows me ask a question regarding polishing products for a hobby use: would you prefer Meguiars (105, 205, etc), Chemical Guys (V36, V38, etc) or would yo directly go to Menzerna? Thanks and I hope the author doesnt mind, otherwise just tell me and I will edit it.
I don't mind at all man

Their polishes are made to have less risk of damaging the paint so they will likely not cut as well.
I guess what I am wondering is if I am used to working with the Adam's, is going to FG400 going to be a huge risk of messing up the paint with my Flex 3401? I have done a few corrections, but I am not professional. If there isn't a huge risk difference between the two I am going to just on the Menzerna.

Menzerna FG400 and SF4000 is an amazing combo. They both buff so smooth and produce minimal dusting. Very easy cleanup. To make life even easier you can add CarPro Eraser to the mix to make cleanup even easier with less wiping.

Even Menzerna SI1500 is a great product that will work in most scenario's, but I pretty much retired it and replaced it with PF2500 for a medium cut polish.

I have yet to find a car where SF4000 didnt finish down perfect and I needed to reach for SF4500. I just feel that SF4000 cuts and breaks down faster and cleans up easier.

If you look at my post earlier in this thread you'll see I posted the technology Menzerna uses and it's basically boils down to DAT.

You'll be just fine and according to Phil@DD Menzerna is better. You'll notice he uses Menzerna FG400 nearly 100%. Plus you'll get much better advice here if you happen to run into a problem.

FG400 is basically foolproof. Its a very wet buffing product, that is almost impossible to screw up with. The only thing you need to be aware of with FG400 is using too much. Its incredibly concentrated, so if you overuse it will clog up your buffing pads and reduce your effectiveness. I typically do NOT prime my pads when using FG400. I start out with 4 dime size drops on the outside of the pad , and follow up with 2 or 3 pea sized drops on each subsequent buffing cycle. brushing off my pad after each cycle. To make life easier I typically use about twice as many pads when using a really concentrated product like FG400 or Sonax Perfect Finish. So if I use 4 cutting pads normally, I will typically use 7 or 8 with FG400. While this is not necessary I just find that I get faster results doing so with less chance of clogging up the pad or potentially causing dust.

Again, pretty much all Menzerna polish's are foolproof. And for a compound I have never found an easier one to use than FG400.

The only high quality compound that will cause you to screw anything up is M105. When that stuff gets to sticking to paint, its a huge pain. and you typically will cause toweling marks trying to wipe it off cleanly. It has the biggest learning curve IME. M101 is a lot better to work with.

Thanks a ton man...I completely forgot about that!

Thanks guys...order being put in right now...I will see how I like it on my current pads and go to the Hydrotechs if I don't like the Buff and Shine pads with it.

Interesting. Just wild speculation here of course, but I wonder if it's a case of conscience catching up. I once had a job selling something where the reality of its abilities didn't live up to the hype and sensationalism of the marketing machine. It does catch up with you and wear you down if you have a conscience.

Adams products are OK from what I've come to find. I might even upgrade them to good if they were about 30-35% cheaper than what they list for. Unfortunately, they aren't marketed that way, IMHO.
Maybe adams is not doing so well, maybe they are don't know the man it just seems odd he would leave, seems like a pretty decent gig:buffing:

Wolfgang Polishes are very user friendly and produce fantastic results! They are manufactured by Menzerna so they offer the very best in abrasive technology.

I agree, I'm done with cg polishes, just purchased some WG need some more:buffing:

was going through a farewell thread on adamsforums and seems as if he possibly might meet mike at detail fest this year? Interesting.

Im a regular on adams forums and Dylan is a very knowledgeable detailer, and a great guy at that.

LFairbanks' post, #87-- This whole parting does not seem to be very amicable. If one pays attention to the details you will see what I mean. There are many clues that lead me to believe this. Dylan leaving is very unfortunate.

Dylan originally "liked" this comment, but has since "unliked" it. Seems as either an ego got in the way or they truly disagreed on something.

I think this affect the forums majorly. Why? Because now there will be no concrete answers for anything and they have to rely on the Mods to dish out advice. The mods dishing out advice over there is not good thing for that place.

Any answers someone like you and I give out (along with others that are from that forum and go on here or wherever else) are usually ignored and they go with whatever the mods say. Unfortunately the mods handicap themselves and ONLY know Adam's products. Once the newcomers find this out, it will leave a bad taste in their mouth; I've seen it happen.

I use a few of Adams products and I like them. I have never used their polish though, only Menzerna since I'm just a weekend warrior and Menz is fool proof. The products I use mostly are their undercarriage spray, super vrt and just got some total interior detail spray which I like. If anyone has any suggestions for similar products that may be a bit cheaper I'm all ears.

The new polished with the microfiber pads are pretty good but Menz has a bigger line of products for different paint types both are good

I agree with your post. I do limit what I say over there, well I guess everyone has to when it comes to other products. Some of their stuff is good, while I have found others to be better/cheaper like everyone else has mentioned.

I don't know.. maybe the truth will come out as the real reason why he left. Dylan bled Adam's Polishes and even everyone over there was very shocked that he was leaving.

I have used a couple of their products as well. The only one I really like is super vrt. I just got the new sealant which I am eventually going to test.

VRT is good stuff. I was on the hunt for something close to it and wound up with meguiar's D163. It's a similar consistency but VRT edges it out in durability. I tried their total interior detail spray and I was not too impressed with it. Meguiar's quick interior detailer and mother's VLR are great alternatives.

I like the interior spray because of the SPF and anti static properties. My dash is black so I see anything that gets on it and since using it I can tell a difference. It's not a strong cleaner and doesn't last that long, but it's something to apply regularly which is fine by me. Have you tried the undercarriage spray? Unless I found something similar I can't live without it, and it smells great. I buy it by the gallon which makes the cost not so bad when you break it down.

Anyway, sorry to get off topic, I know Adams doesn't get much love on these forums, but they do have some good products IMO which is just like any other company. Some good, some not so good.

It'll all come out in the wash eventually as to why Dylan left. It should be interesting to see how things play out.

Agreed...that is the whole reason I joined over here...I wanted to get some none biased views because I feel like the Adam's Forums only allow praise for their own products. Their SVRT is some awesome stuff, and their 2 step so far has been amazing in the hands of a novice. I ordered the FG400 and SF4000 yesterday, so I will be able to compare them very soon and be able to give opinions. Chemical Guys makes a VRP that from what I have seen so far is IDENTICAL to SVRT and is way cheaper.

Dylan has been on the GMFS forums forever and has always been a helpful guy even before joining Adam's. I am still at a loss for how things ended at Adam's for him because he always seemed like the master opinion and advise giver...only time will tell.

BTW thanks for always answering my PM's and dumb questions on Adam's Forums man.

yea man, its always good to see what's on both sides of the fence but also keep in mind that just like adamsforums, the same applies to here too.

You will find people that have not used their products or used a few and make blunt judgements because they are biased. You just have to make good judgements yourself :props: Im all for unbiased opinions no matter what.

Coincidence?

Anyway, I you want to try something similar to SVRT that is nice try Prima Infinity. It beads water like SVRT and is a thick lotion. I only use it on tires now, as I use DLux on trim. Also, I'm not implying Infinity is some Warner-Chemical-pour-outta-a-55-gallon-drum-and-slap-your-companies-name-here product, it's different from SVRT.
