This morning it dawned on me that I am one of the original members of AGO – joined the first day the site was up for use, way back in March 2006!!!

Just for fun, post your Join Date and share something, anything!, that you've learned or have benefitted from being an AGO'r.

Join Date: March 2006. Specifically March 3, 2006

I think my biggest takeaway from the boards is there are so many people with such tremendous knowledge, experience and skills willing to share and help all everyone else. I’m a hobbiest, but now have the skills and tools of a pro, thanks almost entirely to what I have heard and learned on AGO. If I had not happened upon this site, I’d still be swirling-up my car with every weekend wash and still a devoted Turtle Wax user.

My join date was June 6, 2011.

I got my first polisher in December 2010. But used a couple Wolfgang products earlier that year. I have learned too much to write about and am still picking up some tips and tricks as the days go on. Bring on an forum that has friendly members that are willing to help makes me come back everyday. Plus I get to talk with people that love detailing as much as I do.
 
First day on the site was 06-02-2006

Learned far too much here to single anything out.
 
I was a little late to the game. Jan 2007. I have seen a ton of members come and go. Learned a lot about how forums are run both good and bad.
Was glad to see Mike Phillips join the great staff AG had at the time and being able to see the forum continue to grow in many ways. :dblthumb2:
 
August 2011, although I'm pretty sure I lurked on here some going back to 2010.

Since joining, I've learned the difference between a polish and a sealant, become proficient with a DA polisher, and now becoming decent at damp sanding. A couple months ago I finally realized that correction was more important than finding the best product out there to make it shine. But I'm still always keeping an eye out for something that may be a little better! :D

If I recall, wasn't the big hang out Detail city back then, or autotopia? My recollection may be all wrong but it seems like the other sites kinda slowed down later in 06.

IMO the single biggest thing AGO has done is bring Mike Phillips online here!:props:
The thing that stands out to me is, I could not believe the difference between most over the counter stuff and the professional grade supplies sold here! :dblthumb2:
 
According to my profile, I've only been a member for alittle over a year. I was a lurker for awhile though...never thought I was going to join up. The first time I bought something it was a wool washmitt and Ultima Paint Guard Wash kit back in, I wanna say 09. After that was the Sonus SFX Ultimate Detailing Machine Kit with the Porter Cable 7424XP. I bought that back on July 15, 2010. I have all but one receipt of every single detailing product I've bought-I don't have my very first purchase. I will say I've strayed outside of AG about 3-4 times. AG has the rest of my money. Alittle over a year and I have over 4,000 post...holy crap!!!

The biggest things for me that I've taken from this forum, aside from the priceless knowledge and information I've learned from all you guys, is the friends I've made on here. I have alot of respect for you guys and I'm glad I'm able to call you a friend.
 
March 7, 2006. Been part of the detailing forums since 1999.

Still remember the first days when AGO was started. 3 Detail Fests later I'm still here and lovin it :)
 
July 2, 2009 Three Detailfests, Two Bootcamps, Two Mobile-Tech Expos a lot of time with Mike Phillips and I am still here. Oh yeah and several grand in cash. :autowash:
