Amazing Roll-Off

Yeah ARO doesn't leave tires with any extra sheen but I do wonder if it leaves behind some kind of protective barrier on tires that would make dressings not work as good. I only say this because when used on painted surfaces it does leave a waxy finish that even sheets/beads water like a waxed surface. In theory you would think this means its leaving something behind on whatever its used on even tires. I just think that people using ARO for tires and other plastic/rubber are missing where it truly shines.

I found it odd that it smells identical to Windex though.

The "Windex" smell is attributed to the presence of butyl glycol (or its other pseudonyms) in a lot of cleaning products. ARO contains ethylene glycol...yet just another name for butyl glycol, butyl cellusolve, and its other chemical names.

anyone want to comment on the my comment about water ACTIVATING the product ....

Disclaimer: This is just my opinion. Any and all corrections are appreciated. :)

In my layman's terms:

Water activated, to me, means that there are one or more ingredients present in products that are anhydrous [without water, water removed, (dehydrated?)]. Water, then, must be re-introduced to cause a chemical reaction/interaction/bonding between those "dehydrated" (as it were) ingredients and water (at the molecular level, I'm presuming), thereby activating the product as a whole for its intended effectiveness.

Even if the above would actually be factual, without a true MSDS or an actual list of ingredients for ARO, I cannot say what these ingredients are or even could be that needs to be: "water activated".

As stated above: If anyone has further knowledge on this matter, please feel free to respond. I, for one, would greatly appreciated any input.

Just my attempt at some dialogue on this subject matter. :)

Great question, BTW, fredcandetail!!

ARO is the best thing I've tried at cleaning tires. Even straight Optimum Power Clean pales in comparison to ARO at tire cleaning. Regarding water and ARO, yes water makes it work better. I spray ARO on the tire, then dunk my tire brush in a bucket of water and scrub.

I had the opposite experience. I did a side by side with ARO vs OPC and OPC was better. I have just never had luck with ARO.

It does not leave a sheen behind on tires. Leaves you tires clean and matte looking.

:iagree:

Did a little testing. ARO left no coating on my chrome wheels. My tires were matte, and accepted tire dressing readily.
