Hey everybody. I've been lurking for a while and finally decide to post. Great site and lots of good info.
I am a firefighter and have owned a residential pressure washing business for the last 7 years. It has been a pretty good business but I have always loved cars and trucks and I always try to keep my truck pretty clean. I have been thinking of switching over to mobile detailing.
I think it would be a fun business to get into. My biggest hesitation is the money. Guys around here "detail" cars for pretty cheap so I don't know if it would be a good financial move.
Anyway, just wanted to say hey and I'll keep reading and try to figure out what I want to do.

Thanks

Detailing is not unlike everything else; You get what you pay for....

Most guys on here are not Union and they do not charge enough,

I think they do it for pride, read tonight where one burnt his friend paint. Kind of took his life in his hands...even willing to stand up and pay for it...That is class.

Too many here discount their work for their friends, and yet it is a skill.

My hope is many of these guys get their skill up, there is a 2 day course in Fl, and with as many vehicles out there I see no reason why money could not be made, the manufactures sure have invested a lot for tools and products out there...

Education seems to be the key, maybe they need a union, I know they work hard to be good, and proud of their work when finished.

Welcome from Tennessee man! You are more than welcome to join a newly started social group called "Lets help each other succeed" - We are trying to help and be helped on the business side of detailing. Hope to see ya there!

Welcome! I'm sure you'll find whatever info you need on here.

Why not do both pressure washing AND mobile detailing. From the sounds of it...you'll probably have to still pressure wash till you accumulate a customer base for detailing anyways.

A lot of people do both of those cause they already have a lot of the equipment. At least the people who actually pressure wash instead of doing a waterless, or rinseless wash that is. Just an idea. Good luck!!:dblthumb2:

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I think I am gonna check with some local guys to see how much they really charge and go from there.
Hey Kristopher, I would probably keep my pressure washing equipment to do some of my regular customers. But I think I would want to dive head first into detailing to become more professional and efficient at it.
Who knows, time will tell.

Thanks again:xyxthumbs:
