Hey I know some of you have to fish. Me and 15 of my friends kinda wanna go on a trip. we were originally thinking canada like quetico area. then minnesota. any of you from northern minnesota or canada in that region know of any good fishing spots? it's gotta be cheap cause were all college students. and it'll be a week long venture. and we'd like a cabin.
As a person that has gone on and helped organize a number of Up North fishing trips I can guarantee you the number will drop from 15, just trust me on that! That being said,
I've been going to the BWCA since the early 1970's and I strongly recommend it. If you and the fishing buddies aren't much into canoeing then a couple suggestions are Rainy Lake in northern Minnesota. Check out the houseboats for a fun cabin alternative:

I've had family members and friends do this and they rave about it. Now that we have the twins this might be the next fishing trip I can take the whole family on.
My other suggestion is Lake of the Woods in Northwest Ontario. I have caught some MONSTER muskies out of that lake. Crow Lake (literally across the road from Lake of the Woods) is also a great place to fish; it has the best smallmouth bass fishing I've ever experienced, but has no walleyes.
MMMMMMMMM, I was just thinking about shore lunch...... :hungry:
I have stayed here in the 5 bedroom cabin and strongly recommend it:
Fishing Crow Lake near Nestor Falls Ontario Canada at Canadian Fishing Boreal Bay Lodge and Resort on Crow Lake
If you stay here you can have the lodge position the boats on Lake of the Woods the night before. You then have about a 10 minute drive to the boat the next AM. Or just stay on Crow Lake, it's beautiful either way.
Here's a few pics from our last all guys trip in 2004:

Don't forget that the laws have changed and you now need a passport for reentry into the U.S. A passport runs about $100.00 and can take up to 8 weeks to get.
BTW: My fishing gear collection puts some sporting goods stores to shame!!!
