Anyone else not like using gloss enhancing products(other than the LSP)??

When it comes to my cars and truck. I am in agreeance with you Mark. One reason I love Dodo BTBM. I personally enjoy the look of some LSP's so i like to preserve that look.
But when doing someone else's vehicle, anything is game to help amp up the shine and gloss... Especially if not doing a full correction.

Awesome, Jim. I'm not alone on this! :props:

I find that Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant maintains the look of my Fuzion application. It brings back that soaked look, and IMO deepens the gloss.

I have some WFDPSS but have not used it but once. I may try it over Fusion if it does not restore the very glossy look of WGDPS.

I think those who do use gloss enhancing products cannot judge durability the same way as someone who does not. I usually do not touch the LSP with anything extra until the 6 to 8 week mark.

dont care for extra's in soap ... but detail sprays can have some additional gloss properties.

I don't use gloss enhancing shampoos usually but I have no problem using Qd's or spray waxes when needed. On my own vehicles I won't do it right after a detail since the LSP looks great, but a few days later if it's dusty I have no problem with it. On customer cars I always try to wipe it down with something right before they pick it up so it's looking it's best.

If I were to use Souveran Paste Wax as my LSP, would Souveran Liquid Spray Wax change its "look"?

There's gloss enhancing soaps, detail sprays, spray waxes, etc...but I think that goes against the whole point of an LSP. People seem to make a big deal of how an LSP looks, so why distort it? I only use non gloss enhancing soaps such as Dodo wax safe wash or born to be mild. I also only use non gloss enhancing QD's such as poorboys spray and wipe. I like the LSP to show it's true finish, not change the look of it with other products. :)
I just ordered poorboys spray and wipe what can I expect from it I too don't want gloss enhancement?

It's good stuff. It's great for mild cleaning and can be used as a clay lube. It contains no wax or polymers, therefore, no gloss enhancement. :dblthumb2:

Nice theory if one assumes that an LSP never loses it's luster over time. It does because it's being hammered every minute of every day even in a garage. I think anything to enhance an LSP does make sense.

I dont know about you guys. But Ive never noticed a difference when using gloss "enchancing" qd's or soap.

For me, an admitted novice, the whole point of "detailing" is to make the car you are working on look the best you can make it, taking into account how it will be used and maintained. With that in mind, I will use anything, taking into account price, availability, and ease of application, that helps reach that goal. I guess that explains all the crap in my garage.:hungry:

Guess that I've never given it much thought before this thread. I know I like the "wet" look more than the "warm" look (never really understood) so more gloss the better. I've always amped up the look with Souveran Spray; Original Crystal Mist (had more wax); WG Spritz Sealant.
DP Final Gloss for a QD.

Well, I'm not saying using gloss enhancing products other than the LSP is a bad idea, it will just alter the look of your LSP. Therefore, I'm not sure why many people ask what LSP looks good on certain colors when they're constantly altering the look. JMO.

Mark - We get that you don't like shine, sheen, glossy, etc. on pretty much anything .

LOL

You nailed it right there Mark!! :props:

I never say anything about this but now you've dragged it out of me. I don't know why there is so much emphasis on this idea. To each there own, more power to everyone, and its a lot of fun... but I just don't see it... if the paint is polished correctly then the paint is polished correctly. I suppose it's that people are trying to get that last nanometer of something from the paint but I don't worry about that much anymore. If I have it polished right then I'm happy.

Then again... I may need glasses! Im the MAN

My thought - Once it's polished right put any good lsp on that you like and any good qd on top of that or don't depending on the environment the car sees.

For instance my Sky might see QD once in a year if shes lucky. My daily drivers rarely see them either but I'm sure it could add something to them sometimes. I wished I used them more there and it is enjoyable to do.

Other than how my cars looks after it's polished + LSP, you got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactamundo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dblthumb2:

I'm more interested in ease of application/removal and protection, rather than how the LSP looks. They all look the damn same to me. :dunno:

I also believe that QDs can change the look of a LSP. I personally think there are subtle optical differences between different waxes, sealants, QDs and even soaps.

I don't like how some QDs and spray waxes work with my favorite sealants and waxes. Some of these products seem to work better with some colors, despite "perfect" correction. Part of it is look, some of it is durability and some is how some seem to collect dust.

To me, the advantage of a QD when towel drying is the lubrication. I just look for QDs and spray waxes that are compatable with my personal vision.

Do you think using poorboys spray and wipe will alter the look of my lsp?
