Anyone know a place to get cheap synthetic oil?

I just bought a 6 quart case at costco for less than 26.00. That's less that 5 bucks a quart. So I bought two.

In my sons Saturn SL1 I use 5W30 Supertech Oil. Supertech is made by Quaker State/Shell/Penzoil and in some cases Mobil 1. It is set up by region. The oil is synthetic. The cost is about 20

In my other son's car a ford Taurus. And my wife' Kia Sportage we use Motorcraft Synthetic Blend from Walmart for $18.00 for 5 quarts Motrocraft filter $4.00 The Kia filter is $6.00 at the dealer.
Recently the Kia dealer is offering 14.95 oil and filter change. Still that is a good deal. They actually use bulk oil and change it. Not just look at the oil.

My Dodge Nitro gets the oil changed at the dealer for free includes 6 quarts of 5W30 synthetic blend and filter.

Oil is an easy to do item that will make your engine last.

The oil in all fte cars is changed every 3,000 miles or 3 months.

I got a 5gal jug of Mobil1 5-20 at Meijer yesterday for $25. The only issue I had was that they didn't carry the oil filter for my Fusion. So back to Autozone.
The same oil at Autozone would have cost me $58, or almost double what I paid at Meijer! I need an extra quart because my car takes 6.
An OEM Motorcraft oil filter was around $6 at Autozone.

Walmart had a 5 gallon jug of castrol edge titanium for 26.99. That's a steal. Costco and bjs have 6 qts of Mobil 1 for a little over 30 dollars I believe

WOW! Lots of oil changes in that 5 GALLON jug!!

Been changing the oil in my gf's camry recently and the oil it uses is 0w-20 full synthetic. I went to autozone and bought the oil and it costs 8.99 a quart. Anyone know a better place to buy the oil cheaper?

If you have a Pepboys close by, go into their coupon area on site. They have 35.00 off 5 quarts of Royal Purple with filter purchase. Thats about 1/2 price.

Oil is cheap for standard cars. It's a simply DIY task if you have the time, if not you can go to an indy.

I don't want to hear people complaining about oil costs...lol

My engine takes 10w-60. No, that's not a typo.

You may ask, where can you get this? It's no available in stores, online only.

Only made by one manufacture, Castrol (well 2, but I don't trust the other one)

It costs $14.50 per liter, and I need 6. Include the oil filter, gasket, crush rings...etc, you end up around $100 in raw material.

Add on the fact that I change the oil ever 4000 miles. It's expensive.

Cliffs: Be happy your oil is cheap

This.

This. You can pick up 5qt jugs on the cheap.

I pay about 130 for just oil and filter for my truck:) sure sucks.

Any reason you go only 3k with full syn? You can easily go twice that and still be very safe. There's plenty guys going 10k and they're sending there oil to black stone and the oil is coming back great. I use mobile 1 sym with the 15k mile guarantee and a napa platinum filter(made for syn oil and extended oil intervals) for my sisters 2012 focus. I plan on changing the oil in 10k miles and sending it to be tested.

For non-high performance engines I agree 100%

My oil has a huge break-down point after 5000 miles and it's viscosity drops off the cliff. BMW says 15000 miles but there is no way I'd run my car on their interval.

I sent my oil into Blackstone at 6000 miles and came back with Rod Bearing wear...hopefully this time around is better :(

You might want to consider Amsoil. When you become a "member" you get the distributor pricing.
And it is superior to just about everything (Royal purple may be it's equal).
It will cost you slightly more than the normal price for Mobil 1, but even Mobil 1 is a far better oil than non synthetics.
I have used Mobil 1 in my 1992 ford Explorer and it still looks like new inside. But I do run Amsoil in my Supercharged Cobra engine, trans, and diff.

There is no proof that Amsoil is better. I do agree that M1 is awesome. I bought a Jeep where the PO used M1 exclusively. I bought it with a blown head gasket. Took the motor apart and it was spotless. No sludge just a brass like look. Amazing considering the AMC 2.5 is a dirty running motor. Maybe Amsoil is better, but how much?

Boy I hope that 10K change interval complies with Ford's warranty for that Focus. I'd had to hear the engine blew for some other reason and they didn't honor the warranty.

Considering the 2012 Focus uses Ford's Intelligent Oil Life Monitor and Ford's interval for it is 10k miles (less for severe use), he shouldn't have any issues as long as the oil and filter he's using meets Ford's specs. You change it when the car tells you or whenever you want. Just don't exceed one year or 10k miles.

Regardless of what oil and filter you're using, I would still never go above the manufacturer's recommended change interval.

I use Valvoline Syn-Power and a Motorcraft filter in my truck and change every 3k miles (severe use). Blackstone labs said I could easily go to 5k miles, but I'm not.

I'm not worried one bit. My brother has a 2010 TDI jetta. He changes at 10k. That's what VW recommends, and for a diesel I'm not the slightest worried(also hes part of a TDI forum and thats what everyone there does aswell. Also for my sisters focus, I change her oil. I say 10k but I'll probably change it around 7500. On my truck I change it at 6k. I use full syn, but tow heavy quite a bit. I can actually feel when the truck wants new oil,( the 7.3 diesel engine uses a high pressure oil pump to fire the injectors).

Even if the engine blew. It would be really hard to find the oil the problem

Shell Rotella full synthetic, $12 per 5 quart jug. I switched from Mobil 1 to Pennzoil Ultra recently and our Ecotec engines are significantly quieter. Will switch over to Rotella from a recommendation from a race engine builder.

The cars all go short trips only. On some days they only go about 5 mile round trip. This is hard on the engine. And oil. Oil is relatively a easy and inexpensive maintenance DIY

Walmart is about the cheapest for most brands ... if you want to try Royal Purple wait till a Pepboys coupon shows up every couple months, and if you want to try Amsoil then become a distributor or get to know one well.
