After playing with tw hybrid and graphene and liking them, I guess I’m a bit nostalgic. Anyone still using 845? I still love it’s ease of use and may play with it again soon. It’s either that or fk 1000p.

I’m a late bloomer who bought my first bottle months ago. I can apply it almost as fast as a spray detailer. A little goes a long way.

I'm the same as John, bought my first bottle maybe 6 months ago. I've used it mainly on my FJ. I found that it has reasonable longevity everywhere except the roof, which is single stage white paint, while the rest of the car is silver with a clear coat. Nothing seems to last on the roof as long as it does anywhere else.

I did just apply some to my Mum's Qashqai on Sunday, very easy to apply, very easy to wipe off. I could see as I was applying it that the colour definitely got deeper, it's the best product I've used on the Qashqai, for looks anyway. It's garaged every night, so longevity should be good as well. Here's a pic I took this morning, when I moved it out.

I really like it, I'll keep using it, I like the application and removal process. There's a certain satisfaction to the final reveal as you buff it off. View attachment 73458

•I still use both of these LSPs.

-I’ll stop doing so, when they ‘pry
them from my cold, dead fingers’.

It looks surprisingly good.
Just imagine how well it would sell if it were in a fancy bottle and smelled good...

Regardless, I have been known to apply it to my riding mower in the past.

Yep, been using the 845 on my daily drivers. One bottle lasts such a long time due to longevity and how little needs to be used.

845 and FK1000P user here. I’ll always have at least one of them. They last years. My favorite part of 845 is the shine the day after.

As a bonus, FK1000P has the best looking tin in my opinion. Love the design.

Thanks everyone. I still love the ease of fk and then maintaining with 425. However, 845 topped at every wash with meguairs UQW is pretty great too.

I used it for the first time here,

Paint was super soft. Original single stage paint from 1950.

I did the paint correction work with RUPES UNO PURE - Ultra Fine Finishing Polish.

Sealed the paint with Collinite Insulator Wax NO. 845

Perfect for that Pontiac.

I tried to rub off a few water spots on my car with it when applying .... nope. Not an ounce of abrasive in it. I wet my thumb and removed the spot.

For me, it adds several additional months of protection to a 1 step... without adding much more time. Maybe there's a better option, but it works really well..... a little picky to use, turning the solid into paste, but works very well.

I started using Collinite 845 many years ago, although I strayed for a few years by using a variety of spray sealants.

But there is something so satisfying about using a wax, and 845 in particular. Every time I return, I wonder why I ever strayed.

I note the packaging has had an update in recent years though.

845 is one of my favorite LSPs. It provides the luster of a carnauba wax but the longevity of a sealant. I can get 3-4 months protection out of it. It is easy to apply and easy to remove and a little goes a long way. The only issue I have it that it tends to gel up in colder weather. I have to keep warming the bottle to keep it liquid.

To those of you who use 845 often, please help me with these two questions:

1) On the Collinite website, it says you should avoid getting it on black trim. What has been your experience with 845 on trim? Does it stain trim white?

2) Does it ever go bad? I have a bottle that is probably 7 or 8 years old.

Thank you,

I still use 845 and FK, have half a bottle left of the 845, once gone I will stick with FK. Love both products but hate having too many products on the shelf.

That's how I feel about it.....as far as shine, longevity, ez to apply/remove.... and yes, a constant need to keep it semi-liquid at least.

I applied it only last weekend, and I did get some on some textured black trim, it wiped off with no issues. I didn't notice till it was ready to buff off. I can't answer your second question, my bottle is less than a year old.

Joe:

Yeah, it will leave a residue on trim. It takes a day or two to show up though. Weird, right?

I still have my original bottle of 845 from 2014. It seems as good as the day I bought it.

(Just to note, it has always lived indoors and has never been subjected to freezing temps or insane heat.)
