Anyone use aquapel?

I've applied it for a couple customers. Real easy to apply. I told all those customer to get back to me and let me know how they like it. Only one of them actually called me back. He gave it the thumbs up over Rain-X.

He said it didn't haze, and held up really well.

Re: Aquapel now Trico View - Awesome Product

You can also get it at NAPA (at least in Canada) under NAPA logo but it also says Aquapel beside it. It was on sale for $7, reg. price $14.99.

Well, if you need a set or two of wipers, and want to stock-up on aquapel, the best wipers123 deal ($60 off on a 24 case) brings it down to $2.29 a piece with free shipping. There's coupon codes for smaller quantities too. You gotta buy wipers too though.

I also agree with sparkie...my applications definitely last 6 months and probably 9 months since my vehicles are garage-kept.

What is this "fog" or haze you guys talk about? I have used Rain-X for years on many different vehicles and never had a problem myself. I can't imagine ever driving without it in Florida downpours!

If you guys are running the A/C, is it a meat locker in the car? Sounds like possibly your windshield is condensing momentarily due to the temp/humidity difference after the wiper swipes away the moisture? With Rain-X, you can see how much easier morning dew accumulates.

I know my newer BMW will open up heated defrost vents for the windshield and two front windows as part of the climate control program when it senses rain (ties into auto wiper module on electrical bus). Keeps the windows from fogging up due to a much colder interior temperature and the lovely humid exterior environment when using the A/C. Despite this, I still have never noticed fogging windows because of Rain-X in my older cars and ones with more primitive HVAC systems.

This Aquapel does sound interesting, though. I find that Rain-X isn't effective for more than 2 months or so. But I have never had a problem with that nor it's price ;)! Doesn't hurt to try new things!

I have never noticed any of the problems you guys are mentioning about RainX. I have always used it without any problems. My wipers push water away without any haze, streaks or chatter and I have deinitely never noticed any added glare.

With that said, I have also used Aquapel. There are things I like and dislike. The smell is horrible and with take your breath away if you are too close and it is a little more of a PITA to apply and remove than RainX. Plus, it is one application only for a fairly large price. However, once applied, it does a very nice job of repelling water and easily outlasts RainX for a good while.

Basically, I add Aquapel to my wife's car which gets less attention than my Jeep which I have more time to apply RainX on.

I have used RainX and never had a problem with it. I apply it every 2 to 3 months.

:iagree: I've never expierenced this fogg/haze you all speak of using Rain X

I found Rain-X to be just OK but sort of a pain to apply and then removing the haze or film afterwards.

Aquapel is an entirely different product and goes on nicely with the applicator supplied. Squeezing the tabs produces an audible snap that releases the product saturating the applicator pad.

Overlapping strokes back and fourth until the glass surface is completely covered leaves product residue that's meant to be wiped and polished with a regular towel until the glass is crystal clear.

Rain, drizzle, and sleet slide right off the glass similar to magnets repelling one another. It's really amazing how well this stuff works. :props:

Wiper Noise: Greatly reduced or eliminated entirely.

Longevity: 5 months through a New England winter and still repelling moinsure

My neighbor actually gave me a couple applicators last fall. I don't know if it's due to the aquapel but one of the things I noticed over this past winter was on the mornings where you have that very light frost on the windows, I'd come out and my car would be the only one in the lot with clear windows. My car is outside all the time and my fall application is starting to wear off.

If I see it at the right price, I'll definitely use again.

Stuff's expensive at $7.99 each OTC at NAPA in Canada but its ease of use and longevity compared to RainX is worth it. I use one application on the windshield, another on the four side windows and two side mirrors and a third on the rear glass.

I hate those types of products. When I used to use RainX, I noticed that it produced tons of fog after it stopped raining. Even though the RainX loses its effectiveness over time, the coating is still there and still produces the ridiculous fog, and it is almost impossible to remove.

Just use your windshield wipers.
AQuapel is in no way similar to RainX which I believe is silicon based. I have been a fan for years and havent seen fogging or wiper chatter like Rain X. It will last for months too.

I'll have to try this stuff. Where is it you get it again?

That would be a great deal! Right now it looks like they are about $4 a pop for the 24 pack. Amazon has a better price on the 24 pack IIRC.

I must add to the convo that Aquapel (Trico View) is awesome. Nothing like not having to use the wipers at all during highway driving in the rain. I apply this stuff to all my friends' cars if I can, for free. It is a safety thing IMO, and for about $4 my cost I'd give it away to my worst neighbors. Thats how much difference it makes IMO. When you get then hang of it you can use 2 applicators to do all windows on a 4-door sedan or wagon and the side view mirrors for some awesome rain driving.

:iagree: I love Aquapel, and I still have quite a stock of it from way back when PPG owned the product.

Anyone know if the formula has changed at all through the time PGW and now Trico have been selling it?
