I've tried tons of different pads with the 3401, and have not found any that make the 3401 comfortable to use. I have a feeling the 5" Hybrid pads might help. They're obviously not as bulky as the 6.5", which could lead to better control. Plus, the beveled edge may help, too. Anyone care to comment?

Thanks.

Been using the 5" Hybrid Pads.... Loving it!!!!!! They are the perfect match for the Flex IMO.

Works great! IMO, the Hybrids are the best for the 3401, then HT followed by flats. The Hybrid orange is beast with M101!

Marc,

This sums it up perfectly:

The Flex XC3401 equipped with a 5" Hybrid Power Finish White Polishing Pad can only be described as heavenly. There was much concern as to how well the 3401 would handle such a small pad, but with Lake Country's innovative 45 degree beveled edge design of the Hybrid Power Finish Pads and the ridiculously smooth nature of the 3401, they make a perfect combination for effortless machine polishing.

It works better but still not as good as the rupes in my opinion.

I just cannot deny the forced rotation. If there's a pad that intrigues me to make the 3401 feel smoother, I'll give it a shot. I've failed miserably thus far, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If I don't like the way they feel on the 3401, I'll buy a custom 4" backing plate from KB and use them on my HD DA polisher.
