Anyone want to help a Newbie?

Does anyone know if the backing plate I chose is a good one and will it work with the Griots polisher? Anyone have any opinions on the Minzerna polish? Is that over kill with the 105 and 205? Also as I stated in my original post. The 2 main vehicles I will be working on are both in good conditions. Do I need the 105? Are the pads a good choice. Thank you to everyone, I consider myself educated but this is very confusing.

You should do a test spot to really know since paints and user technique can vary.

If M205 will not get the paint in the condition you want, you will need something to do a second pass or get something more aggressive.

A polish like Menzerna SIP will bridge the gap between M205 and M105 if you think M105 will be too aggressive (do not need that much correction). Paints in good condition with mainly "swirls" can take more polishing than one expects.

The orange and white pads are the appropriate pads to polish paint.

M205 should finish well enough for you but again you will have to try it.

For foam pad polishing, I think a good overall best combo that should work with most paints: M105, Menz SIP (WG TSR), and Menz. 106FA (WG FG) with orange, white, and black pads to cover all options. You would use the red/blue, etc for applying waxes or sealants.
 
So the menzerna polish is between the 105 and 205? Any suggestions on the back plate? Should I purchase a black pad as well?

do you have clay or will you just get a kit OTC?

Megs and Mother's both have pretty good kits.

I'd drop the pad brush. You have enough pads to swap them out and can clean on the fly with a terry towel in between. Instead get some rinseless wash concentrate like Ultima waterless wash plus, DP rinseless wash and gloss, or ONR

cobra rolled edge microfibres are really nice too... 3 for $10 is a bargoon for what they are...
