Arizona sun 1, UTTG Solution Finish 0

I do acid (water spot remover) then APC scrub, then dry and IPA.

When using Solution Finish I have found you want to apply UTTG over the top to protect it. Of course first buff off excess and let it cure at least 4 hours in the sun if possible.

Have you tried an acid wash for prep? When I used C4 and it didn't last as long as I thought it was going to, someone here suggested using an acid prep (which I suppose is perhaps what the water-spot remover is doing). I haven't gotten to re-do the C4 yet, but when I do I'm going to prep with something like the FK decon step 2 (acid).

I'm figuring APC, then acid, then maybe a final IPA wipe.

Not yet, I am still an apprentice scientist. I will see how this does then maybe check into other alternatives. I should have prepped a section for UTTG and tried that again as it is holding well on the luggage rack.

I had similar results with SF on my truck. The plastic base on my antenna was ashy almost as soon as I bought the truck. It was almost white instead of black. I used SF on it and it looked good for about a week and then it lightened up again. It's now grey and not white but it's not as it was when I first applied. I plan on doing it again and on a few other parts to test it out some more.

So far I will say that I prefer my old method of dying trim. It's not as fast but the results lasted and the end result was great.

I really don't have the dying option on this one since it is essentially a step into the back of the van. Even what I am trying may not be a good option but it would hopefully touch up better than scrapped off dye caused by some one's shoe or package. You could do the Sem Kote with a terry cloth as it will turn black. the kicker is finding something that will keep it that way. If this piece was not plastic/rubber I would get it Line X'd. Anybody know off the top of their head if Line x does plastic ?.

2 week update. Solution Finish is gone, also the hand applied 303 is gone. The Dlux is on it's way out and the 303 applied with a rotary and wool pad is about the same as Dlux. Surprisingly the DG 253 that has no UV protection is slightly behind the buffed 303 and Dlux. I have cleaned some more panels 2 with alcohol and 2 with Bleche White and applied UTTG on both.

Send me your address, I want to send you a sample of CG water spot remover.

Dave, I am back in az for a few weeks so ill post up a few pictures of my buddies truck I did back in June. I am beginning to think the type of plastic plays a big part. His door handles look great but the cowling is starting to fade just like the experience you had.

Yes I do believe that. I have UTTG on various parts on this vehicle and Dlux on various parts of the daughters and everything holds up well. This particular piece is probably a mix of rubber and plastic which oxidizes to gray. I will try the cleaner Richard is sending while the 2 UTTG places are under test. As for your cowling the wife's luggage rack was graying and I used 303 and a terry cloth with some brisk scrubbing which brought it back to black and then the next weekend I put UTTG on it. It has been black ever since and I re-apply the UTTG around 3 months to be on the safe side. Something you may want to try, I'm just throwing it out there.

There is an odd stain and a little fading on the door handle. This vehicle is outside 24/7

Hi Dave

i have a question for you... did you clean and degrease well before applying the DLUX ?or you applied it on other stuff?
in such extreme heat weather i would suggest two layers on the plastic, first layer will act as a primer and second the cover coat.
