Armour Phobic

It will be available soon. It looks very promising. I was also sent a bottle of it and from speaking with DJ at ADS any tweaks to it will be minor from what was sent out. They have been testing it side by side with other spry coatings that fall into this category. ADS has hit a homerun with all of their products. If you have not tried them out then I definitely encourage you to try them.

I've said this before, but I don't think I have used a more cohesive range of detailing products from the one company. As I'm sure you know, a brand will have a couple of key products that stand above the rest of the lineup. ADS is different, the whole range sits at the pointy end of each segment they compete in. That's rare.

And before anyone goes on the defensive, nothing here is a "game changer" or require you to throw out what you already have. But the ADS brand has nailed it across the board, which is impressive for such a young brand.

Agreed, I think they benchmarked Gyeon

So I always reuse my leftover RW, either in my tire & wheel bucket or in my rinse bucket for doing a traditional 2BM. So when I opened the buckets lid from dumping old Hero in there, sat for a couple days, a thin film was ontop of the water. I posted about it in Guz's comment section and someone from ADS said it doesn't have a certain preservative. I found it refreshing that they read it and explained it, an additional layer of commitment and that they're reading and care about the customers experience, keep doing that ADS

I've come across Carpro being the benchmark, either way they aimed high.

ADS are putting in a lot of effort to build the brand via engagement with customers. They have shared my Intagram content a few times, something the established suspects have never done with me.

I like that their Ceramic Spray Sealant has coating-like water behavior. There are thousands of spray sealants on the market and in terms of water behavior, most are just OK. It sounds like ADS Ceramic Sealant is on par with Kamikaze Overcoat and Cosmic Spritz.

I'm resisting the urge to try their products and giving it more time. I'm very content with Carpro - Reset, Descale and Ech20 are 3 of my favorite detailing products.

Apart from the iron remover, paint and glass coatings, I bought one of everything from the range to sample. I've yet to sample the Ceramic Spray Sealant, so I'm now keen to try out.

Some notes comparing the ADS line to Carpro -

- ADS have yet to offer an acidic Descale competitor.

- I think I still prefer Reset over Shampoo+, however both are top tier soaps.

- As a rinse-less wash, I think Hero is better suited to the task than ECH20, even if not quite as glossy/slick afterwards.

- Adapt being an RTU waterless wash is point of difference to Carpro.

- Amplify is on another page when it comes to ease of use compared to Carpro Elixir.

- While I do really like Carpro InnerQD, I now easily prefer Pilot.

- And the ADS Wheel Coating is by far better than DLUX for longevity, slickness and hydrophobics.

If you were to buy a few to sample, I'd skip stuff like the iron remover, panel prep or wheel cleaner and head straight to Adapt, Hero, Pilot and Amplify. Tire+ is very nice too.

Skimming through this thread real quick… So they’ve really got a product called Armour Shield?
If that’s the case then I dunno, maybe I’m the only one but this type of blatant plagiarism bothers me and always has. It’s always bothered me when it comes to the more than several water based dressings with the word “hyper” on the label, along with similar blatant copies such as “Final Touch” etc… Like was it really that hard to think of a different name for your product?

And now there’s Armour Shield? I never thought the day would come where I’d say this, but Armor All should sue their asses off for copying their products name that they came up with over a decade ago.
Why do so many in the detailing industry lack originality and instead choose to blatantly rip off other brands names?

Personally I never once thought that. Its not called armour shield. Its name is simply "shield" and its bu armour detail supply

I have to agree with you Eldo that just "Armour" is kind of cheesy, and Phobic seemed to be a better name than "Shield", but people seem to like their products, I haven't tried any yet. Armour Detail Supply does sound more like a distributor, rather than a mfr. Maybe someone knows the backstory, maybe they started out as a reseller, then decided to come out with their own brand.

Thanks for posting that, I didn't realize they had put a picture up.

Thanks DFB. Always informative posts. :xyxthumbs:

IMO “Armour” sounds so boujee… Sort of like “colour” but even worse. Lol.
This is America.

Perhaps it's an attempt to avoid a collision with the aforementioned Amor All and, presumably, any rights they may hold or choose to attempt to exercise over products with similar names.

And if so that would prove they did indeed steal the name.lol.

If we are being pedantic, "Armour" or "Armor" is word, not a name.

Armor All is a brand name, just like Armour Detail Supply is a brand name.

Turtle Wax put the heat on Jimbo for much less and made him change the name of 1 of his products.
I stick to my story [like Thourogood said in Half Baked]lol.

ADS manufacturers all of their products other than their ceramic coatings which are manufactured overseas. They have been transparent about this before. They distribute their own products.

I wasn't impugning ADS, since we were talking about names and trademarks, I was saying the NAME of the company sounds more like a distributor, rather than a manufacturer, I wasn't suggesting they aren't a "manufacturer", whatever that really means in the context of the many "manufacturers" that don't have their own manufacturing facility.

FWIW, I also have a problem with the financial "industry". To me, "industry" evokes manufacturing (you even have a city named that in California, Guz), but to me the only thing the "financial industry" manufactures is reasons for their existence (apologies to any members that work in this "industry").

Oxford dictionary defines industry as follows: 1. economic activity concerned with the processing of raw materials and manufacture of goods in factories.

Just to reiterate, I understand ADS is a manufacturer (as that term is used in the detailing, ahem, industry), I was simply saying that tacking on "supply" at the end of your company name is more frequently used by distributors, i.e. "Fred's Plumbing Supply", or "Springfield Farm Supply".

EDIT: I mean they could have named it "Armour Detail Manufacturing" or "Armour Detail Industries" or "Armour Detail Technologies" or just "Armour Detail" or just "Armour".
