Ask: Anything about Optimum Opti Seal!!!

If you're currently using #845, I see no reason for opti-seal. I've never used it, but I know that it's a true sealant for shine and protection. Do not confuse it with a QD, it's nothing like that.

Jefri,

Washing your car shouldnt affect the durability too much. As with any wax or sealant as long as you are using a soap that wont strip wax or sealants you shouldnt have any issues. Now if you were using harsh soaps and chemicals you wont have the best durability.

Jon

Thanks Jon, that explains a lot about the durability. I guess I come a little bit closer to conclusion.

:iagree: but I need to know more about this product, because it's available in one of the store in Indonesia. As you may know, it's a little bit difficult to buy this kind of product in Indonesia. Once it's out of stock it will be long enough for it to be available again.
See you again my friend..:dblthumb2:

Ahhhhh, I understand buddy!

I know it's a great product from the reviews I've read. It's supposed to be easy to apply, provide good shine, and good protection. I'd buy some if I were you! Nothing wrong with having a few LSP's to try. :dblthumb2:

I like this thread alot. As someone that has never used Opti-seal this thread has cleared up all the questions i had and now im going to order it much to my wallets dismay but since i need more ONR i may as well LOL. Thank you for starting this thread Jefri.

Does it come in anything bigger than a 8oz

I guess you don't need more than 8oz.
My friend Corey AKA CEE DOG told me that "It is a wipe on walk away product. It must be applied extremely thin.
8 oz will last a very long time if properly applied. One application should last between 3-6 months so on 1 vehicle 8 oz should last for a few years at least."
Hope it help Transcendent :props:

Since I still got Collinite 845, I think I'll wait to buy opti seal later. Because I think it a similar product.
Here are the conclusion I had in mind:
1. Opti seal surely enchance the glow and water beading. But it is a sealant, not like collinite 845 which is wax. But Opti seal and colli 845 have the similar purpose (enchance the glow and water beading).
2. About the durability, I guess it's great. But still if you have Collinite 845, the durability is also great.
3. Ease of use, I guess if you want a quick apply and you have not many free time, you should go with Opti seal. In my case, since I have colli 845 and I wax it every 2-3 months, I find I have no problem on using it. But when my Colli 845 ran out, I surely try opti seal :)
That's all I can say about this product.
So what do you think Mark? Did I miss something?? I think I am going to start new thread soon about opti coat because i need a product that protects the paint from swirls and scratches to minimum.
Thanks bro for joining this thread

Jefri,

If you look at my first response, I said as long as you have #845, you really don't need opti-seal. However, there's nothing wrong with having a variety of LSP's if you don't mind spending the money.

#845 is actually a "hydrid" LSP. It's a wax and a sealant! Both products will do the same thing; provide water beading, protection, and shine. Use all your #845 first, there's no NEED for opti-seal at this point.

845 is great, no doubt about it!

But the amount of time you save with opti-seal is just so amazing!

+ no worrying about any excess getting on the trim or drying in the crevices of the vehicle!(eliminates the need for post waxing/sealing cleanup!)

This may be of interest to those of you considering Optimum Opti-Seal.

I’ve been using Opti-Seal on all vehicles since last Christmas. The results have been more than satisfactory, both to myself and my clients.

The following is the finishing procedure I use. The following assumes that you have already corrected the paint to your satisfaction and have completed all polishing procedures and the vehicle is at the stage that it is prepped and ready for the application of a sealant.

1. Apply Optimum Poli-Seal using a soft pad such as a blue or red LC. Even though Poli-Seal does have some corrective properties when used with a polishing pad, the main purpose here is to chemically clean the surface prior to the application of Opti-Seal. Poli-Seal is buttery smooth to apply and virtually disappears into the paint with very little wipe off required. It takes around 15 minutes (via polisher) to complete an average sized vehicle. Poli-Seal leaves the surface slick, similar in appearance and feel to Chemical Guys Ez Crème Glaze.

2. Apply Opti-Seal with the supplied applicator directly over the top of Poli-Seal. Opti-Seal would have to be the simplest and quickest sealant I’ve ever applied. It takes all of 10 minutes to apply. Optionally apply a second coat of Opti-Seal after allowing the original coat to cure for 12 hours.

3. To finish off, immediately apply Optimum Car Wax (spray) over the Opti-Seal. Add another 10 minutes.

As far as maintenance, I simply wash normally and then finish off with Optimum Car Wax.

To the guy who asked about why only an 8oz bottle. A bottle of Opti-Seal goes a long way. It goes on very thin. I’m only half way through my first bottle and I’ve lost count of the number of vehicles, so I doubt you’ll be concerned about the bottle size. The bottle states suitable for up to 40 vehicles.

Previously I was finishing off with a combination of Ez-Crème and Blackfire Wet Diamond. Substitute points 1 and 2 above. While the result was equal to the Optimum solution, the endurance or longevity of the protection was pretty ordinary – at most about 2 months.

Of course there is now another solution from Optimum, the newly released Opti-Coat. I see Opti-Coat as being the perfect solution for those clients who want the protection but none of the fuss of having to maintain a finish.

:iagree:
So opti seal can be applied using DA polisher? And can it applied with black LC pad?
Thanks gmck for the complete feedback. It surely help others who haven't applied opti seal before.:dblthumb2:

Agree. I like both products. However, as an experiment I did a fall clean up on the paint, used Opti-Seal (2 coats) and finished with 845. That was late October. Used brushless washes at a decent car wash operation here in STL. REALLY pleased with the results.

I think you should probably re read point 2. "Apply Opti-Seal with the supplied applicator..."

For more tips on how to apply Opti-Seal please visit the Optimum forums.
