Autogeek wash bucket measurements are not even close...

I don't think there is anything to be made "right"...the measurements are approximate.

oh sorry. i thought thats what you are supposed to say when somethng from ag goes awry.

Speaking of measurements how do you guys measure your car shampoo? I know most product containers state that a cap full is 1 oz. But with the shampoo being so gooey and viscious how do you "sticklers about measurements" accurately measure oz's?

I have some "re-purposed" 5 gallon round buckets that the standard grit guards fit great in. I took a 1 gallon milk jug, filled it up and poured it in measuring the height of the water each time.

I'm sure that bucket to bucket will be different even out of the same molding machine never mind manufacture to manufacturer.

OK, from the bottom of the bucket.....

1 Gallon = 2 3/4"
2 Gallons = 5 3/8"
3 Gallons = 8"
4 Gallons = 10 3/8"

Mark, you're wrong. You say the bucket is 1/2 empty.....it's actually 1/2 full.....

Son of a gun, my Cobra Super Plush Deluxe 600 16 x 24 inch is really 15 2/3 X 23 1/2 !

Let see Megan fix this one! :dblthumb2:

gotta remember alot of buckets vary in size, one of my buckets dont measure up, however the thread mike phillips made showing how to mark your bucket is showing it used with the gamma seal lids, which is different size then a normal 5 gallon, thats why i get the cheapest buckets and make my own measurements then theres no issue. furthermore i wouldnt pay 13-20$ for one plastic bucket that costs 2-5$ elsewhere.

A gallon of water is 8lbs. Therefore a five gallon bucket of water should weigh 40lbs; obviously zero out your scale for the weight of the bucket itself or subtract it from the total you get. This is the most certain weigh IMO to check your measurements since measuring containers can all be off; then we are faced with using a scale we know is accurate. ;P
Apprx 9.5oz. per gl. isn't going to change the world with any car shampoo IMO. It's the true chemicals used in detailing that need to more carefully diluted IMO/E. That said, try checking the accuracy of your measurements/ratios on your spray bottles. That is where I usually measure my solutions in measuring cups, not by the side of the bottle unless I have measured the bottle for accuracy beforehand.:)

You have such a delicate way of titling your threads Mark.

A lot of Smart comments here.:nomore: Mark makes a good point. If they aren't even close then why bother marking them? Some people want to make their solutions as precise as possible.

Well said, bud.

If wash shampoos needed to be so precise then I think using them in foam cannons and the like would not be such a safe practice and any issues with shampoos would have been brought to light by now. Just saying. Lets not over think this and get out of hand with one another when we are on the same team.:) If products need to be measured so precisely, or people just want to be that precise, then measure everything out and add it to your buckets/containers.
I hope that if this something PBMG can address that they will.
Wonder if the buckets with molded in markings are more accurate than the printed on measurement markings?...
