You know whats funny though, damn near all the successful business owners we know, none went to college, including my uncle who owns one of the largest electrical contracting firms. My grandfather is one of the only ones in my fam who went to college, Emory, and had an Insurance business that merged w/ Allstate. I graduated college in 05' and have my own business now. While almost everyone else we know that went to top notch colleges are just working your normal 9-5 corporate ladder type jobs.....you would think it'd be the other way around lol. My sister pulled off 4 years at a 2 year university though for her associatesnick19 said:I have to go back to shcool the 8th. I enjoy school, learning on a college level is so much better than HS. I look at it like this.. if I don't learn to enjoy school, how am I going to be successful? There's not too many non-educated, successful business owners out there.
Keep your head up, things will get better...
I'm only 19, and I don't have ALL the business experience. I have worked 1(one) retail job. Since I was 16, I've had my own landscaping business. I am eager to learn new marketing techniques, business practices, management, business law, etc. I am also taking some digital imaging classes, so I can learn how to make my own brochures, flyer's, scrap-book, and business cards, so I don't have to pay someone or exchange services.Surfer said:You know whats funny though, damn near all the successful business owners we know, none went to college, including my uncle who owns one of the largest electrical contracting firms. And enjoy college, it goes by way to fast. IME it's the whole college experience thats more important you can network with so many people, I honestly don't remember much from my classes and I only graduated in 05' with a 3.5 GPA. The one thing missing that College doesn't teach you is "hands on" experience, that's why IME its so important to take an internship class in something that interest you, most companies will careless of all the achievements or awards you did in college, it's like you study all that, go to work, and learn all over again lol. And network, network, network at college. I know quite a few people that I graaduated with that didn't do that well in school but b/c of connections/contacts they made there their doing pretty damn well with businesses and different ventures. I went to Lynn University here, small private college, excellent business program, but the school is pry the most culturally diverse school around actually really cool when you firrs drive in and see all the flags from every country that students attend from. If you have a good advisor stay in touch with them, they can be your best friend and hook you up with companies etc.
