I'm interested in a nice medium polish that's gentle yet can fix medium defects while at the same time doing the least amount of damage/paint removal. I've used a few and would like the forums thoughts on my picks and also if you want to throw your pics into the line up.

I've got:

Menzerna 2500 - Diminishing abrasive from a top tier polishing company

FC-717 swirl remover by Mckee's37 - SMAT Super Micro abrasive technology. Originally released as a compound but downgraded to a medium cut polish.

Griots garage - Correction creme, Sub micron diminishing abrasives as far as I know?

All great polishes in their own way, What do you guys think?

Just read this on Mckees product page.

"The abrasives gradually diminish as they work, giving you a built-in finishing polish"

I'm confused, It says on the bottle that it uses SMAT which doesn't diminish. It even says on the bottle that it doesn't diminish.

I also would really like to know if this is more aggressive then a typical medium polish or as aggressive IDK?

They also say on the bottle to only do a 12" by 12" square. Is that what you guys do?

been interested in jescar medium cut polish

I was just reading about that. I'm definitely interested it sounds like a new technology. I'm not clear on whether or not it's the same company as Menzerna with a different name or what?

But looking through the store I have to say I'm Super super interested in the new Rupes 15 mark3 polisher. I have a G15 that I don't really like. I'm mostly using my Duetto but I have a feeling the Mark3 15 will be a big improvement over the G15 and just what I'm looking for.

If I buy that I'm going to go with the Rupes medium gel polish. It makes sense I have and use all the Rupes pads and Rupes diamond ultrafine is one of my favorite polishes. It's taking all my willpower not to just buy it right now lol

What makes you think the Rupes 15MKIII is a big improvement over the G15? If anything they copied that machine after it improved on what the MKII didn’t have (soft grip, progressive trigger). Unless you plan on also getting the entire Rupes system I think you better off keeping the G15. Much better warranty.

I've heard many people say the rupes 15mm machines are better then griots. Even the old one. Almost every post I've read comparing both says the rupes are just stronger smoother better machines.

Of course I didn't start comparing until after I bought the G15 but whatever.

I know one thing, the rupes couldn't be worse. I dont like the g15.

Yeah, it can be smoother with Rupes pads (especially if you don't do the washer mod). I don't know that I'd call it quieter, it's a different pitch of sound but both are loud enough I'd always wear ear protection. I think the higher cost on the Rupes and the inferior warranty are not worth IMO, for me the G15 works perfectly fine. If you invest the money on the MKIII I hope you're happy with the purchase.

Here’s my way of thinking:

Benchmark
-A Standard; or point of reference; against
which things may be compared or assessed.

•As many of us can attest to...
-Within many industries there are such
(officially) designated benchmarks.

•However, as far as I know...
-benchmarks (designated as being official)
do not presently exist in/for the world of Detailing.

-Take “medium polishes” as an example.
Basically, IMO, what it boils down to is that
the level of cut can differ from manufacturer
to manufacturer—sometimes leading to where
a “medium polish” could/would actually be called
a (more aggressive) “cutting polish” by some
people within an immediate detailing circle.

•As to the above three polishes you listed:
-Once again, there is currently no (officially)
designated benchmark with which to
compare those particular products.

In my wildest dreams, I could never be as colloquial as Bob.

But, the standard practice is to pick a few polishes in the range of your correction desires, match it with your machine/pads, then do a test spot.

Jescar polishes are not the same formula as Menzerna, they’re better.

Has anyone done some side by side testing with Menzerna PF2500 and HC400?

I have scratched my head sometime what is the difference between them if only reading the cut and finishing ability from them.

PF2500 cut 5 and finish 7
HC400 cut 8 and finish 8

Is it so that HC400 gives too much cut on a light polishing pad vs PF2500 on a heavy cut polishing pad?
And also many really like the finishing ability from PF2500. But HC400 has a higher finishing ability going after the chart only.

I have the HC400 and the PF2200 but have not tested this out myself LOL. And there are more and more so called one step compounds that I would include HC400 in. That gives you a notch higher cut than medium cut polish and also finishing a notch higher than them. 3D HD One and maybe Pinnacle and Wolfgang and Blackfire Swirl Removers. Mostly know of a couple outside of what AGO sells. But think you know what I mean. A light cutting compound with great finishing ability too.

My thought is if these are used on a light polishing pad they would be finishing better than the medium cut polishes. But would it also be cutting too much? I mean with the little difference on the Menzerna scale with 1-3 on a 10 point scale. Is the cut so much more on a polishing or light polishing or even a finishing pad with HC400 vs PF2500?

I really like Opt Hyperpolish. I think it would fall into the medium category. Very easy to use, cuts well, finishes well, no dust.

I did the washer mod on the G15. Does that cause the pads to stall more or less? One reason I don't like the g15 is that it stalls on even the slightest curve. I wonder if changing it back would be better?

I mostly use my Rupes Duetto and I have all the Rupes pads and polishes for it already. I don't like the griots pads either. The only way they work for me is If I put that stupid velcro spacer behind the pad. I don't like having to do that at all.

Yeah If we are just talking about the cut of the polish I usually go by what grit sanding marks it claims it can remove. That's how I figured out that the FC swirl remover is stronger then say Rupes medium cut polish.

Whoa whoa whoa there fella. Menzerna polishes are some of the best around. Are you sure they are better? I used their micro finish polish and I would not say it's better then Menzerna 3500

I don't think I'm ready for a spray polish. It might make my head might explode lmaooo

Am I not allowed to have my own opinion? I did not say Menzerna are bad polishes. Jescar line are less oily, cut and finish just as good(or better).

What would you say about Pinical advanced swirl remover

Just read this on Mckees product page.

They're probably using agglomerated abrasives.

These abrasives are "smat" grains clumped together to boost cut, and "diminish" in to primary grains, thus becoming a non-diminishing product.

Menzerna FG400, and I believe Rupes Zephir utilize this style of cutting abrasives.

Medium cuts I mostly use are:

Menzerna PF2500 on LC Hydrotech (Porter Cable 7424xp / Flex 3401)
Rupes Quarz on Rupes Yellow foam (Duetto)
Rupes Keramik on Rupes Yellow microfiber.(Duetto)
M205 on Green Buff and Shine Pads (Porter Cable 7424xp / Flex 3401)

I can also use Megs M86, and M83 in those applocations.
