Hi Everyone.

Nice to find this forum.

I own a 2004GTO since new and now have free weekends to invest time on it. It is myBot keeper. I thought I did a good job in maintaining the car until coming here and reading how it should be done!

I notice the GTO is showing its age a bit from road chips, windshield scratches, and a small section of clear coat trouble yet undefined.

Hope to be able to take better care of my car and use better components from the experience here. Both interior and exterior.

I will search and read as much as possible but pardon me if I ask a redundant question.

We were all beginners at some point so just sit back, do some reading, get some basic products and get started. Detailing is not a black art and the more hands on experience the sooner you'll begin to see some great results.

This link contains articles written by Mike Phillips and has allot of great reading within.

The is the general order or operation for detailing the vehicles exterior.

  1. Wash
  2. Clay
  3. Compound
  4. Polish
  5. Seal
  6. Wax
Try not to become overwhelmed with all the products as you'll only become more confused and at the same time broke if you try to buy them all. Pick one product that will satisfy each step above and begin but above everything else make detailing enjoyable.

Enjoy! :props:

Bienvenido a Autogeek Online! Yo soy de Hialeah originalmente.
No question is a dumb question. We are all here to learn. Ask away.

Thanks. I did some reading from an earlier post regarding orbital buffers and a few others.

Up to now I have been using the Mothers California Gold wash, Clay Bar System and Carnuba Cleaner Wax. I did not know about Compound, Polish and Seal.

Much to learn. The journey is as good as the destination.

Welcome to the forum from another Miami member.

Welcome to AGO, I love those cars, been itching to get my hands on 1. I guess I will have to head down South to get one though, they never did sell them in Canada.
